We're always scrambling for candles when the power goes out, but often come up short-handed. These hurricane lamps are my new go to. They definitely burn a lot longer than any candle and they are very economical, not to mention they put out a decent amount of light compared to a candle. The glass seems like it will hold up to normal use. They can be used indoor or outdoor. It did smoke a little when I lit it which is to be expected and also when I extinguished it. Everything functioned on it perfectly. You do have to buy your own oil, but it's not expensive. All around, it's the better value.

These are very pretty and are a heavy glass. The smoke level and smell would depend on the wick and fuel used more than the design. These can be replaced if needed. These do not come with fuel so make sure you have some on hand or purchase that at the same time as the lamps.The wicks that come with the lamps seem like a good quality that will burn well. The knobs to raise/lower the wick turn smoothly.These are great for general decoration or to have on hand for a power outage or as mood lighting.
