I have been using aftermarket toner cartridges purchased on eBay in my Brother printers since the mid 1990s, and overall it has been a troubled free experience.Aftermarket toner cartridges are significantly cheaper than buying the brand name toner.Over the years I have slowly moved away from purchasing products on eBay, to purchasing on Amazon, because the eBay feedback system favors the seller.I have been using the same provider on eBay, for toner cartridges for several years. I purchased a half a dozen toner cartridges, and I had a problem with the first one, they told me to continue on with the rest, and then they would make the problem right when I had used all of the cartridges. Well it took me a couple of years to finish off the toner cartridges, and it turned out the only problem I had was with the first one. when I contacted them they ignored my request for a replacement toner cartridge. So I figured it was time for me to start buying my toner cartridges on Amazon.My printer is printing fine, however I am down to my last toner cartridge, so I searched Amazon to find a new supplier.I was surprised to find that the vendors that sell toner on Amazon in general have poor reviews.I ended up purchasing from Epicartridges, because about 3/4 of their reviews were 5 star, even though they seem to be a little more expensive.I ordered 4 toner cartridges, and they arrived quickly.I put the first toner cartridge in my printer and the printing was terrible. There were big blotches of toner on the page, random spots and blotches, and a gray background on the whole page. There was obviously something wrong.I've removed the toner and the drum, set it on my desktop, and when I remove the toner cartridge to take a look at what was going on the first thing I see is as I pulled out the toner cartridge was there were little streams of toner running out of the cartridge.As I went to put the cartridge back inside the plastic bag, I noticed that there was a substantial amount of toner that had leaked out of the cartridge and was inside the bag.There was toner everywhere inside of the drum. It was not just a film, I managed to dump out a couple of tablespoons of toner out of the drum, into a cardboard box.I took the drum outside and cleaned it out with a can of compressed air. Then and I used alcohol and a cotton ball to clean out the drum as indicated by the brother troubleshooting guides.I tried the second toner, and it did not have the toner spilling out of it, however there were black marks on the printed page, that occurred even though there was not much printing on the page.I tested the remaining two cartridges, the print quality was poor. Since three of the four cartridges did not have toner running out of them, it seemed logical to me that there was some kind of damage created by the excessive toner, probably to the drum unit.I reinstalled my original toner cartridge, and the print quality was also poor. The poor quality print appears to be caused by the drum unit.I contacted Epicartridges and told them that I thought their leaking toner cartridge damaged my drum, and I wanted them to send me a new one.This was their response, I copied the message from Amazon messages:Just the toner happen with the problem and we just sale the toner to you, so we are just are responsible for the toner, but we will sorry that the drum was damaged.You can contact with amazon to return all the product back, after you return it, they will issue a full refund for you.Thanks,The broken English is somewhat difficult to interpret, but it is clear they don't care if they're defective product damaged my printer.So I returned the four toner cartridges and got a refund, and I went to eBay and purchased me a new drum and four more toner cartridges.Since I installed the replacement drum and toner,I have used at least two maybe three reams of paper, and the printer is working fine.I am very disappointed in Epicartridges. The chain of events clearly indicate their tone cartridge caused the problem with my drum.My printer was working just fine until I installed one of their toner cartridges, then my printer was no longer printing properly. After I bought a new toner cartridge and a new drum, now my printer works fine.In summary, I did receive a refund for the toner cartridges I purchased from Epicartridges. However, I spent hours of troubleshooting and cleaning, and I had to buy a new drum.So I have to ask, why would I take a chance on a company that will not take responsibility for their quality control. We all know that problems can happen. A good reliable company should step up to the plate and accept responsibility when their product causes trouble.The aftermarket replacement drum cost me less than $20.When I presented my problem to the Epicartridges, they had two choices:1. They could have immediately shipped me a replacement drum, and a new toner cartridge. I would have installed the new drum and toner cartridge and determined that everything was working fine. At that point I would have been happy to pay for the new toner cartridge, and sent back the old toner for replacement.If Epicartridges would have done that, I would be writing this review, singing their praises, and telling what a great company they are with a dedicated customer service team that would work tirelessly to solve a problem, and I would probably be a lifelong customer.2. The second option for them is to give me a refund for the toner (because Amazon requires it) that I bought, and ignore the fact that they damaged my drum unit.You have to ask yourself, why would a company alienate a customer to save I would highly recommend finding a different supplier for your toner needs.
