I was looking for a replacement short sword that was both a bit longer, and also a bit less gaudy. This was both, the blade a whisker shy of 17" and a hilt and scabbard design MUCH more appropriate for the stealthy rogue characters I dress as. Overall construction was pretty tight, the cross-guard wiggles just enough to let me know it's not welded into place. The blade is beautiful and could very well be full tang, but as I mentioned, narrow and deft, making this piece look more like a short rapier than a gladius. Mine came with enough of an edge that I would not allow young children to play with it, even supervised. My overall assessment is that it is nearly PERFECT... as a ladies' (or a mature child's) walking around sword. But the diminutive scale of the piece also precludes the average adult male from grasping it, the hilt is simply too short. But, if you are slightly built and looking for a GREAT VALUE in a costume piece, this is a very good choice, maybe even 5-star.

Very realistic and has some sharpness to it. Not a kids toy sword

THIS IS NOT A SWORD ITS A DAGGER. When I received this item I thought I would be a sword but to my surprise it was just a dagger. It’s not sharp and the whole thing is only about 19 inches in total. I do not recommend this it is a waste of money. That was from the disappointed kid, mom is super impressed with the quality! For the price, it’s well crafted and made of actual metal! Gorgeous

Black Prince Sword. I don't know where his kingdom is, but this dude must suck. And, be a little tiny guy. Cuz his Sword is like a foot long. And the little jewel in the hilt ? Seriously ? Bright Red Plastic ? There aren't any little fake plastic rubies in china ? But, it still is perfect for opening your next box from Amazon, with yet another cheap, crappy, tiny, chinese sword inside. So get you one. Right now. Or don't. I don't care.

My 8 yr old son bought this with his birthday money, and he loves it more than anything he's gotten in a long time (maybe ever!). He's very much into knights and swords, and he has many toy swords ranging from plastic to foam (Nerf) to custom-made wooden swords. However, none of them have ever satisfied his desire for a real sword—but at his age, a real sword is not an option safety-wise. Then we came across this sword and decided to let him get it because it's a real metal sword for $25, yet it's not sharp so it poses no real danger (more on that below). The blade is stainless steel, and it has a weight to it. It looks and feels very "real". I'm don't know if it's full-tang or not, but it certainly feels like it's full-tang. It has the solid feel of all one piece. It feels and looks much more expensive than the price we paid for it. No part of it feels cheap or poorly made. The handle is composite with metal accents and is also very solid. The sheath also appears to be made of composite material with metal accents, and the leather strap feels and looks like real leather (and is a nice touch!).The entire length of the sword is just shy of 2 feet (blade itself is 17 inches); it seems a bit on the short side for an adult-sized sword, but it's a perfect child-sized sword. That's not to say it won't work fine for an adult costume piece, just that it's probably going to be on the short side. I posted a picture of him holding it in case it helps better visualize the size. He's 4'3".As for sharpness, the blade itself is not sharp at all. The tip of the blade is quite pointed, though; I wouldn't call it lethal, but it's certainly not blunt, either (I included a picture of the blade tip also). Another reviewer likened the sword to "a glorified letter opener", and I agree. Which turns out to be a fantastic costume and play sword for an 8 yr old who is able to follow a few rules of safety (don't "stab" or poke anyone with it, don't ever aim it at anyone's face). And you can't beat the price for this kind of quality.

This sword is amazing. Nice and heavy, sturdily made. I use mine for sword swallowing. The tip is pretty sharp (not like a knife, but definitely very pointy) and the edges have a bit of a bite to them as well. I blunted the tip a bit and ran my tool along the edges just to be a little safer for swallowing. As far as looks, the case is super nice with real leather strapping, the blade is a nice color of steel. The only thing I could think of that might be negative would be that the red cross in the center of the handle is plastic and looks a little bit out of place. I plan on painting that part a different color, but it doesn't stop me from giving this a 5-star rating.

After playing a lot of Skyrim as well as reading and watching a Game of Thrones, I was really excited to get an awesome sword for $23 shipped. I should have read the fine print a bit more closely. This sword is super small, only a bit larger than what a dirk or large dagger would be. it is shorter than even a short sword. the quality of the sheathe was much better than i expected, and the blade was great as well. The look of the sword was pretty sharp on a whole, except for the pommel, which is cheap plastic and wiggles, threatening to break under the smallest pressure. I have since sold this sword to my friend and paid an extra $20 to get a larger, 36'' full metal sword. The review is not meant to negatively impact the seller, im basically giving it a 3 because of the unhappy experience i had with it. So, be warned before you buy this. Take a tape measure and extend it to the length of the blade to try and get a perspective of how small the sword will actually be. If you are in the market for a weapon of this size, though, i would recommend everything about it except for the flimsy, cheap pommel.
