I love Tombow Pencils, especially, soft dark lead. I write a lot, as I am forced to do timekeeping by hand. The way the lead feels on the paper is one of my OCD’s about pencils. I am a fan of the new Blackwing matte pencils. They are very expensive; well, 12/$30+tax. These Tombow’s are amazing and my new favorite and for the price - Wow! I will be back for more.

The HB pencil allows for a range of tones without changing to a softer or harder grade. Erased easily, not too much smearing. Sharpened evenly and without chewing up the wood.

These are great pencils for artists! They're really good quality, slow-wear, and they're smear proof, so if you paint with watercolours like I do you don't have to worry about the lead bleeding. Highly recommended.

It’s been over 60 years since I was introduced to (saddled with?) the famous (should be infamous) #2 pencil in first grade, and I am so glad to be rid of it! These 3B pencils produce writing that’s much easier to see and once I ordered some Papermate erasers to fit onto them, I was waxing poetic in no time.

Ona par with the Mitsubishi (although the Mitsubishi had a nicer box)

Tombow pencils continue to be my go to for performance and durability, and would recommend to anyone. I use from 2h to 4b with excellent results always. However if you are switching from some of the European brands you may find the grading a little softer than what you are used to, but they are consistent so this works for me.I have also found no quality difference from those made in Japan to those made in Vietnam. However I would prefer Japanese made vs Vietnamese made (but that's just me)

I am only just learning to draw so I have not yet splurged on the super fancy expensive pencils. However, I try to get find brands that are still good quality. Of them all, these are definitely the best. The graphite is really smooth and has the right darkness for 2B. Also they don't break off easily when I am sharpening them with a knife. I have other pencils (Kimberly) that are maybe a tiny bit less expensive but they have a shiny graphite that doesn't make dark enough marks or go on paper easily at all and they always break when I sharpen them.

These pencils are outstanding & they write as smooth as room temperature butter. I love these pencils so much that I'm never going back to my Palomino, actually, because in my opinion the quality exceeds that of the Palomino. If you're a person that has hand pain flare ups, you may want to give these a try. They're slightly less dark than a standard 2B pencil (but still a high quality grade 2B!), they write super smoothly, the grip is easy, and the pencil is very light. Feels like writing with air and the pencil screams fancy, if you care about that kind of thing. This particular pencil is the reason why I journal more often these days.**Note: Although, the Mitsubishi Hi-Uni pencil also writes smooth and is light, it has slightly more resistance to the page than my Tombow 2B and it's way more expensive ($25 for a 12 pack compared to about $12 for 2B Tombow Mono 12 pack). The Test Scoring 100 pencil is a cheaper alternative to these Tombow Mono pencils ($17 for 35), but it writes a little darker and the hexagon shape is a little more pronounced.
