This is my favorite soldering iron for on the go. Heats quickly and plenty of watts for bigger solder joints, but has tips for finer work as well.

This was a request from my grandson who is going to be an electrician. When I got it, I was surprised how small it was, but when my grandson opened it, he was very pleased. It was just what he wanted, and he showed me how it works. It's pretty cool.

I ordered the Ts101, and when I did I noticed that there are several versions available. One with the iron by itself and one with the iron and power supply.I thought since it was powered by USBC that I did not need an extra power supply.But my USBC source is basically meant for phones and is underpowered for the TS101.I now have to order a power supply or return the TS101 and then order the TS101 with the power supply included.

Quick heat up time good for if you don't want to just sit there and wait for your iron to heat up and doesn't take long to cool down either

Was looking for a smaller lightweight option to the industry standard Weller units. This little guy when paired with a Li-Ion 65W battery pack works like a charm. It heats up to about 700F in about 6 seconds, enough for Lead free solder to start flowing. Not much else to say, it just works.Experience for reference 20+ years as a Network TV Broadcast Tech. XLR soldering, component level stuff, various custom cable fabrication. You get the idea.

For most, soldering irons are "ON/OFF" devices. The "fancy ones" will let you control the temperature and all of that but requires a fancy base station and are very expensive (Looking at my Weller set up!) This guy is VERY inexpensive and uses power from a variety of sources (PD USB-C, 24VDC PSU 5.5mm/2.5mm barrel and even USB-C battery pack). But with this versatility comes complications over the old standards. Search Videos on how to use and manage these things BEFORE turning yours on. Don't just play with it to see what's what. Learn and then use. These things get HOT so be careful. Speaking of careful, the connector end of the tips have ceramic insulators. They are the best but they are also fragile. Store them carefully and insert/remove carefully. Do not DROP them. I haven't had this problem but many others have so learn from others instead of experience and you'll be ahead of the game.Over all, a VERY excellent tool for smaller work spaces and where portability is useful. I still like my old Weller but it's bigger so... Anyway, the Amazon Basics 65W PD USB-C power supply is a great general option to use to power this thing.

I do not know nearly enough about modern soldering irons, or this model or the similar TS80P so I cant really review them in too much depth. I have the TS80P as well and for my uses, they are similar enough I dont really see too much difference between them, they are effectively interchangeable for me. Both very good, but youll have to investigate the various features yourself and determine which best suits you. Either way they are both very nice, super portable and easy to hold. Definitely preferred to the gigantic normal style ones.
