I purchased the TopDon TC004 Mini Thermal Camera to help with diagnostics on automobiles and HVAC, and insulation and etc. Right off the bat I was impressed with the sturdiness/design of this tool and the different features. This isn't a tool I will use all the time but it sure is handy to have this when I need it. Electrical hot wires show up clearly on this as well as cold. This unit will show you the cold areas in your house as well as hot areas and let you know where more insulation is needed. I keep the TISR on 240*240 for clarity and really like that feature. The actual temperature tells me in real time what the difference is between hot and cold and varies in between so when it shows red or yellow, I know just how hot it really is besides just showing a color. For the different screens it has 5 color palettes but I normally prefer the iron and rainbow for my use but sometimes I will use red hot. I restore old vehicles and have found this to be a valuable tool for many things having to do with heat, be it air or water. Just recently I used this camera to monitor a bearing and see the max heat dissipation. The TopDon TC004 comes in a very sturdy case which I will keep it stored in, a charging cable and a carrying strap. For the money, you just can't beat the TopDon TC004 Mini if you do work on anything to do with heat, cold, or wiring. I will also use this for things I'm curious about such as how hot a dash on a car gets on a really hot summer day when it gets warmer and other various things which will pop up. Very pleased with the function of this unit and the options it has. I would recommend this item to anyone that may be curious what the temperature of something is.

I have had the original TC004 for a few years now and it's been an incredibly helpful tool so I decided to get this to keep in my truck. You can see in the pictures the size comparison between the two. While the full size version has a little more detail, this one has all of the same functionality and boots up notably faster!This thermal does a great job identifying problem spots in a ton of different things. I've used it to spot which circuits on my truck were causing a parasitic draw, spotting how far water intrusion made it into a house around a door, finding areas in an attic that were missing insulation by checking the ceiling in the main floor, and making sure that there weren't any hotspots left after a small fire that a friend had.Like all thermal imagers, be sure that your settings are adjusted correctly to what you're trying to use it for and remember that these excel in highlighting temperature differences, not telling you precise temps. Once you get the hang of using this, you'll likely find a ton of different uses for it like I have! Definitely not a tool I thought I'd need before I had one, but now I can't imagine not keeping one around since I use it so much for so many different things.
