It is nice that this comes with 2 lengths of tie out cables. We go camping alot and some sites offer more space than others for my dog to roam. The 4ft cord has traditional clips and the longer one has carabiner type clips. You are supposed to be able to use the 4ft one as a leash with the handle adaptor. I do find that a bit awkward to hold but in a pinch it is nice to have as a backup leash option. So far these have been out in rain and mud and have wiped off easily and not rusted (yet as I assume they will.)

I’ve gone through my share of tie-out stakes over the years, and most of them eventually surrender to the raw determination of my two blue nose pitbulls. Not this one. From the moment I drove this anchor into the ground, I could tell it was built different. The installation was smooth—even in my mixed clay-and-rock soil—thanks to the included rod with soft grips (a small but much-appreciated detail). Once set, this thing does not budge. One of my dogs likes to launch into a full sprint when a squirrel dares to exist nearby, and the stake held firm like it was welded into the earth. The 360° swivel head is another winner. No tangling, no wrapping around itself—my pups can move freely without me constantly untwisting the line. And the stainless steel construction? Solid. No rust, no corrosion, even after several rainy days and a few “territorial” pee showers.Bottom line: if you’ve got dogs that pull like they're training for a sled team, this stake will keep them safely grounded. I might actually pick up another just to leave in the trunk for camping trips. Highly recommended for anyone who needs security, simplicity, and serious staying power.

I like the way this dog tie out stake works. A separate rod with foam grips is supplied to screw it into the ground and it worked well and made it easy to twist the stake into the ground. I didn't like where I placed it the first time and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to remove it with the same tool. Actually, a large screwdriver would work but the foam handles are much nicer to work with. My dog isn't that big at 25 pounds but while wearing her harness she does a lot of excited jumping at the end of the 30 ft cable cord that I attached to this stake, and it hasn't moved or loosened up at all so far. The swivel connector keeps the cord untangled, and there's a threaded lock on the clamp that holds the cable, which makes this setup pretty secure. I don't leave her on this tie out unattended as she could get tangled up and hurt herself. But she loves the large area that this stakeout gives her, and I enjoy watching her get her exercise while hooked to it.

Easy to install. Dog hasn’t pulled it out of the ground yet. So far hasn’t chewed through the lead. Will update if she does.

This is by far the most nicely crafted dog tie out I have ever used or seen. This design is so far superior to the “corkscrew” type, as it was a breeze to install even in rocky soil. The connection for the cable pivots 360 degrees, so there is no tangling of the cable. It’s beautifully made out of 304 stainless, so no concerns with rust or corrosion, and it even comes with a very nice solid stainless locking carabiner. Also included was a very solid piece of stainless round rod and two removable foam handles that made installation in the ground a breeze. I don’t see how you could improve on this design, as it works great, and stays very firmly in the ground, even with a hound that pulls like a freight train. Great Product!

Overall, this looks like a pretty good tie-out. There are a couple of things that caused me pause. It says it's made of stainless steel and it's electroplated. Does that mean you electroplated something over stainless? Or does it mean the electroplating is stainless (can you even do that)? Anyway, it looks pretty good. The description says "You will receive-1 heavy-duty screw in anchor,1 stainless steel rod with soft handle,1 manual". There's also a little protective cap in there to put over the pointed end of the stake (better safe than sorry) and a locking snap link in there. All you need is a cable and you'll be good. That rod that's included to screw it in is a little weird. There are cushions for the ends but it won't fit through the eye with the cushion on. Put one on, slide it through, slide the other one one, screw it in, take one off, slide out the rod,... you get it. The swivel at the connection to the rod is good. It'll make for less twisties. Overall, I like it pretty good. It isn't perfect but it is better than most. Only time will tell on that no rust promise.

I was a little concerned when I ordered this that it would be a big hunk of metal and be difficult to put into the ground. So, I was relieved to see that the tie out stake I got was really rather smaller than I expected and thus quite easy to screw into the ground. Our dog is not that big but is very strong and really gives these sorts of things a real workout. We had a corkscrew stake that was bigger than this and went in deeper and she managed to pull it out of the ground. So far, this has stayed down. The trick with this stake is to make sure it's screwed down until the top plate is compressed right against the ground itself. With the larger "paddles" in the ground and just the top loop above, it seems like a better designed stake for putting your dog out. We like to set this up when we are working outside as it allows the dog to hang out with us and we don't have to worry about her going walk about, which she has done a number of times. We have only installed this unit in one place in the back yard and it works so well there, we're reluctant to unscrew it and move it someplace else. Might have to get another one for our travel needs, which is okay, since this one wasn't very expensive.Particularly like that it's made of stainless steel. Other screw in stakes we've owned have been plated steel and no matter how well we took care of them, they always rusted. This one shouldn't.
