The concept is a good one but the execution to create it wasn’t very good. The butt strap and straps over the butt of my one month old foal was WAY too small and the girth strap was WAY too big. To add injury insult, one of the straps pulled away from the stitching. I don’t have a problem, mending anything but there’s no way to fix the fact that the butt apparatus was way too small. The strap over the hip landed in the middle of his croup and would not go any higher so it kept slipping off.

This did NOT fit my larger foal. It is NOT adjustable over the haunches area which made it too small for my large butted foal. It sat on top of her butt OR fell down to just above or below her hocks. There needs to be another strap that allows more adjustment. To add insult to injury, I returned it and only rec'd 50% of what I paid as refund (from the seller). Amazon refused to back up their warranty as "it is sold by third party". Never again!

Well, that's one of those "what was I thinking?" A) it doesn't come with any instructions or warning. Not even a single piece of paper except for the tag. B) by the time your foal will be able to put it on, he will be lead otherwise you will be in trouble. So pass.

I had only had my filly about 3 weeks. She is 11mnths and large for her age, been out on the range all winter and had not been handled except teaching her to lead before I came and got her.. She already leads but I bought this as a training aid for many other things I wanted her to get used to things all the way around her. Eventually she will learn to drag things, and I will use her later on for hunting. This will be good for teaching her about having things all around her like scabbards, breechings, etc. It is very heavy duty and I liked it because I could put in on in pieces and get her used to the cinch part, then the back part that is about 1/2 inch felt on the inside and holds it shape. That is important if you are doing this yourself. I put the parts on piece by piece and got her used to them by rubbing her with it first. I tried to get it to jingle and let loose pieces fall off to see what she would do The product was comfortable for her and she never minded any of it at all.As you can see from the pics she was very relaxed. There was 2 drawbacks. #1 was I was not sure of how to put it on. I had left the picture I printed off up at the house so it took me a while to get it right. There were no instructions. #2 the part from the back legs along the sides that has the large metal rings are adjustable but may be a bit short. They fit her now easily but for a yearling or 2 year old they may be short. I loved this product because of the quality and versatility of its use as a training aid for many things. Very happy with it especially for the price. I will run long reins on it for teaching her to turn and also to teach her to drag/pull small things. I will put a makeshift back cinch type thing on it so she will be used to it when I put on a saddle. I have attached lead ropes to both sides and let then drag to get her used to something following her. The possibilities for using this for a training are endless. I love it. I believe if they grow up with everything possible happening to them, when they get older and you are on them and things happen as they absolutely will, they will not go bananas, making for a safer ride.

The foal training device arrived as described. It is heavy duty and was a great help with the stubborn mule foal who didn't want to be lead. I would recommend it.
