I was double billed and received two Bass recorders. I returned one to the UPS store using the amazon return label expecting a refund but was not reimbursed. Communication is problematic with the vendor.

I have been interested in getting a bass recorder for some time and decided to go for it. I choose this one, partly because it cost a bit less than a Knick model, and partly because I like the more historic look. It looks impressive. It’s large, and to me, the keywork suggests a real instrument.But looks mean nothing without performance. The sound is good to my ears and it’s pretty easy to play. The keys make it pretty easy to cover all the holes. I have some trouble playing my tenor, partly because my right index finger is somewhat misshapen, a result of an injury. But no problem on the bass. I can pretty easy get 2 octives, and maybe a bit more with some practice.This comes with a really nice, velvet lined hard case and includes a neck strap and a snap-on thumb rest.

Tone is BEAUTIFUL!! High F sometimes finicky, especially when the instrument has wet up- you will need to clear the wind way of condensation on a plastic instrument more often than on something in wood.Hopefully this doesn’t become a worse problem, but trills between low F/Fsharp could be a challenge as I noticed the F# key binds up when the F key is depressed.All in all I’m very happy with my purchase and I recommend getting it NOW when it’s on sale for $220 before they take the sale back and raise the price back to $450.

This is a very long bass with the bocal. I like it. It feels quite comfortable to play. It's the version from Japan and got to me in excellent condition, being shipped with Fed-Ex to the east coast. The case is gorgeous and it includes everything you need to play including the grease, a cleaning cloth, a thumb rest a fingering chart and a decent neck strap. Aulos is generous. On day one with it I'm having a bit of trouble reaching the high notes, and some of the lowest notes, but I'm sure it will work well once I get used to it. I'm very excited to have this instrument. To new bass players: a couple of the fingerings are different from the alto fingerings. Thank you amazon Japan, great job. Day two: much more comfortable with it and liking it even more. This is a very impressive instrument that is 44 a d a half inches tall. I'm a 5'2" tall woman, so it's just a kicker to be playing this huge instrument so comfortably. Day 3 even easier. I love this thing.
