This is a very fun train set. It has 3 train cars and an engine. The engine actually puts out steam if you put water in it. My son loved that feature and has had us refill it constantly. It comes with a squeeze bottle for filling (and takes less than half the bottle to fill the train). I can see this being a slight problem with mold if I don't air it out properly over time, so I'll be careful to do that. It has enough tracks to keep him entertained for a while, but it's not a large set of tracks. This is a smaller set and appropriate for toddlers. My son is probably the upper limit of engagement at 5 years old. The tracks are easy to put together, but hard to pull apart. I worry that pulling them apart a lot will damage them, so we're leaving them put together and storing in the closet. My son is definitely not able to pull them apart on his own.

Cute first train set. Took a while to figure out how the tracks go together. Little frustrating. The pieces are really cute, all the parts they love. Once the track goes together it doesn't fall apart like many other trains. However, I wish it was made to take apart for storage. you can get the track apart but it is not easy.

With a toddler who loves cars, trucks, tractors, and everything in between, I thought it would be fun to introduce him to trains, especially with his mechanically inclined mind. It was a great idea.With some train sets, they're either fragile, contain too many pieces, or fall apart in the first day or two. Not this. It's only a few pieces, but the track stays together well, even when bumped. Assembly takes 15 seconds, not including the batteries for the locomotive. Each car that can be pulled by the locomotive has its own moving part, which is a nice touch. The magnets hold well and everything is built nicely.The best part, at least for me, is the option for steam. You add water to the main engine with the supplied bottle, and it will put out steam as it goes around the track. I finally had something I could get our toddler to sit and watch in amazement. It has a silent option, where the train quietly goes around the track, or with music and lights, which can get old after a few minutes since it plays the same song, but it's fun to watch a young person see how it works and just enjoy every second of it.Great toy. Would absolutely recommend all day long.

This is so cute and easy to put together and take apart. We only used the round pieces to make a very small track but it has straight pieces to make it a bigger track. The steam comes out nicely and is visible and the music is ok but we prefer no music. This is a great gift for a toddler.

Edit to add: we had this for less than a week and the steam stopped working so my son is quite bummed about this….My 2 year old is obsessed with trains and this toy is SUCH a hit! It’s easy for him to put the trains together with the magnet connection. The steam is what is a game changer!! It works so so well. It has lights and music as well. I couldn’t be happier with this toy and neither could my son!!

This train set is cute, colorful and durable. There are lots of pieces of track which fit together easily and well, a station with little trees and best of all the colorful train with its cars. Not only does this have music and movement, but it releases steam (you have to add water) as it moves around the track. Each car has a part on the top that moves as the train goes around the track, adding to the fun and the amount of movement. This train is sturdy and works so well. It has everything a toddler could ask for in a train. My little one is mesmerized by it and loves that she can work it herself. I am really impressed with this train set in terms of value, fun and appeal for my child. this would make a wonderful first train for a young child.

When I was a child, way back in the 80s, I LOVED my trainsets. Back then, there were two kinds: wooden and model. I had both. The former was my favorite toy as a young child, and the latter blew smoke, which I loved when I was older.Toys have evolved a lot since then. Now, with my own daughter, this is the prefect mesh of both. While not quite as beautiful in terms of craftmanship as the wooden ones I used to have, I can't deny that this trainset is more colorful, plus it actually WORKS. Instead of having to push it by hand, this one goes around on its own...all while having moving parts, and releasing steam just like the model trainsets I played with when I was older.My daughter absolutely ADORES it! Watching her turn the train off and on, and seeing her joy as it passes, reminds me of my own childhood. That, alone, makes this toy worthwhile.In terms of quality, it does the job. The price is fair for what you get. While there aren't really any major track configurations beyond the default, that's just fine for now. I'm so glad we got this, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good miniature trainset for their child!
