I have been using this antenna on my car for about five years now. I have two on my vehicle and gave one to a friend - all have held up wonderfully. Reception is good, no problem with signal quality. Build quality is high, it has not cracked or rusted, even after going through hot summers and very cold winters, being removed and reinstalled many times. This antenna has served me well and Iām confident it will do the same for you. Highly recommended.

I ended up needing to trim about 1 inch off both the top and bottom sections, but it tuned really good. 1.1:1 at 146.000MHz...1.2:1 at 440.000MHz and 1.4:1 at 462.500MHz(GMRS).I have the same antenna on a 30 foot tower as my base, it's been there for 8 years and still 1:1 and 1.2:1..it didn't need tuning, it was perfect out of the box, that's why I bought the 1180 again for my mobile. I didn't mind tuning the antenna, it's part of the hobby! I hit a repeater 54 miles away clearly..and I live in the mountains of east Tn.73Km4dmy/Wrcl663

Out of the vinyl bag, and assembled, vswr in either band (146mhz, 445mhz) amateur radio, and GMRS (462.500mhz) were amazingly right on for use. Low frequency was best at 1.02: 1 mid band.Medium 445mhz was at 1.28:1 and the new General Radio for anyone, came inat 1.51:1 !!! Wow me.I switch radios but not antennas which is useful. I use a 5.5" magnet on vehicle when out but warning..Do not snag the tip ball in any overhang as in drive thru services. I discovered the weak spot is the plastic center coil and short threaded ends on the stainless whip assembly. I ordered another while I repaired the first.Still satisfied with performance, I recommend owning at least one for home or travel use.4 of 5 stars

Had a minor issue with a missing a set screw from the package. A quick trip to my local hardware store fixed that and I got some extra's as I am bound to lose one sometime in the future. If you need, I believe they are 10X32 & .25" long. The one that worked its way loose during shipment was in the base where it screws against the trunk lid. I would reccomend a stainless steel over the painted or powder coated set screws. For RF you want a good contact, as opposed to matching colors.Tram adverstises as pre-tuned & it certainly seems so after a quick test with my nanovna! 2m seems flat across the band and for 70cm everything over 425~MHz has an swr of 1.5 or below. Sweet!I did try to compare it against my base antenna and it seemed to perform as good or better. However, my base antenna is a 19" groundplane in my attic. But the driveway is a tad higher than my driveway. I was able to hit at least as many repeaters and even though I didnt a reply when I called "This is, KC1OCA testing" I did hear the repeater kerchunk and the repeaters identified themselves. My main reason for getting this is for APRS, unfortuneatly my Subaru Legacy seems to transmit RF on 144.390 so I havent been able to give it a good test yet. But, seeing as its NMO I will be using it on an magmount base in another vehicle and driving around to see how it performs. Also note the picture, the Tram logo matches up almost perfectly with the logo on a Tram 1246B. I'm sure the marketing department had their hand in this, but is a nice detail. One thing I really like about the Tram is the connection is made via pin & spring as opposed to a metal tab. The tabs on some other antennas seem to corrode or just occasionally make a bad contact. The spring & pin seems to be much more consistent.73 - KC1OCA

Bought this to pair up with a Yaesu C4FM dual band, and a 6" mag mount for mypick-up truck, after reading many positive reviews for this antenna, from various sites !The rating I gave in the middle, for weather proof, is only because of the short time I have had it, and so far, so good, as you never know what weather we may see here in Illinois, as we had snow yesterday, (04-20-21), after I mowed the lawn the day before ?Antenna arrived in two pieces, and assembly was quick and easy, using supplied Allen wrench.( I have read where some have opted to use some type of thread lock, here ), so far I have not, but I also made sure that " all " Allen's were snugged up!Mounted center of pick-up's roof, and SWR was 1.2 to 1 on VHF, and 1.3 to 1 on UHF, out of package, per an MFJ Antenna analyzer!Pretty flat here, however my city is in a steep bowl, with the center near a river.Have easily worked Amateur Radio repeater's from 40 to 65 miles away, with good reports, and a 2 meter simplex contact at 65 miles or so ! ( Early morning, possible bandenhancement ?) while setting stationary in my driveway !This combination seems to work well, as the law of reciprocity applies, as it hears as well as it talks !Report that this antenna holds a long distance record, for me, are sketchy at best, as I discovered a balloon flight in the formula ?None the less, this antenna is working well, and well worth the very affordable price !Build quality seems good !Drawing from over 40 years of active Hamming !Hope this helps !But like anything else, do your homework, and see if this might work for your mobile, as well ?'73 !
