Works great when installed correctly, really gets out to the repeaters. I have been using the Tram antenna for several months now and this VHF/UHF antenna has exceeded my expectations for a compact and convenient amateur radio setup. The installation process is straight forward and the adhesive holds very firmly to the glass, I installed it on my Rav 4 on the back side window that is tinted and there are no issues. I run a 25 watt radio and it is crystal clear on the audio on VHF and UHF. Even in the rain and storms. It has handled both rain and heat and sometimes car washes when I forget to remove the antenna. It is still holding up after several months without any sign of wear. This antenna is a solid choice for hams seeking a reliable performance in a compact package. I would highly recommend it for operators who prefer not to drill holes or use magnetic mounts. The price is worth it.

I purchased Tram models 1191 and 1198, one tuned for CB and one tuned for amateur radio bands. They are the *exact* same antenna. Outside of the packaging I can't tell them apart. I'll break out the VNA to check but I suspect they are the same antenna.

Great performance with SWR of 1.5:1 or less on both bands. This is easily adjustable. Directions good and installation was straightforward. Purchased second antenna for another vehicle and recommend it for a no hole mount application.

I have had 2/440 mobile antennas for decades and a long time ago had a glass mount. For a variety of reasons with my current SUV I decided to go with a glass mount. This one arrived today and took me less than 15 minutes to install. SWR without adjustment was acceptable on both bands. Using the supplied adjustment tool I got the SWR down to 1.1:1 in the center of both bands. Hit repeaters on 2 M 40 miles away. Just for the heck of it I used it with my VHF public safety radio (which I am authorized to use). SWR under 2.1:1 at 154 MHz and I'm sure I could have adjusted that down some. I will be ordering another for the PS radio N7WR

First installed it straight up vertical, but after SWR adjustment never perfect, leaned approx.. 10 degrees off vertical, I then was able to tune perfect with resonant 146.400. Transmit was great, Rx horrible, static, bacon frying. Started return process. Old timer said all my car's computers were the problem. After the (4) ferrite clip on coax beads, (see photos) Rx is great, Stopped the return, keeping it. Great conversation piece, What's That? they ask. Order your ferrite beads pack of 10 or so. I was going to trim to fit but warranty issue. I like it.

Installation -- I had never tried a thru-the-glass antenna feed before, and was a little skeptical. With my previous car I was able to use a trunk lid mount, and there was enough give in the rubber window insulation to get a coax through. But with my Camry it just didn't look like that would work with my trunk mount adapter, without damaging the car when opening the trunk. Hence the thru-the-glass mount. Before purchasing, I watched a couple of videos others had posted about the installation process, which were helpful. I followed the advice of one poster who suggested using some silicone sealant about the edges of the external glass surface, masking it with tape so it looks decent. I don't know if the sealant was necessary or not, but it looks good, and seems pretty solid. I'll know in a year or two if it might have helped keep the window adhesive strong. The supplied coax was plenty long to snake the cable down next to the rear seat back, and under the car's carpet to the car's center console, where my dual band radio is located. The antenna ended up on a bit of a slope, because of the car's geometry. But the fact that it's not perfectly vertical doesn't seem to be a significant issue so far.Performance -- I have a network analyzer (NanoVNA) which I used to measure the antenna's impedance, and I think it looks pretty good. I included photos of the VNA's screen for SWR and Smith Chart plots for both the 144-148MHz. band and the 420-450MHz. band. The little tuning screw seemed to be in a pretty good position as it came from the factory. The worst case SWR for the 2M band was under 2.2:1, and for the 70CM band it was under about 2.5:1. I haven't given it much on-the-air testing, but I have had no trouble hitting repeaters in our valley, 20+ miles away. So I think it will be a successful result. A good alternative to drilling holes, or opening the window with a mag mount.
