I ordered this to use when we kept having squirrels getting into our trash cans. It is the perfect solution to keep out small animals, and also to avoid wind blowing open your cans. Highly recommend!

The clips on Thai strap are sturdy. They’re made from strong steel that are coated with some kind of rubber-like finish. But the straps are made from basic fabric. How will they weather in rain, snow, and direct sunlight? It’s also a shame that the clip is identical on both ends. It would be nice if one of the ends stayed attached to the bin. The way my rubbish collection crew races through their route, I won’t be surprised if I find the strap has gone missing because it was accidentally swept into the truck along with my recycling and trash.

This Trash Can Lid Lock does exactly what it claims to do. It has a secure strap with solid metal claws at both ends. The strap is adjustable to fit different sized trash bins. It fit my medium size Brute trash bin (not sure what the capacity is). It adjusts up to about three feet long for larger receptacles. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a trash can strap for securing their lid.

The only thing this strap doesn’t do is unfasten when it hears the garbage truck! It’s windy where I live and I always hesitate to put the trash out the night before, but it can be easy to miss the trash pickup otherwise. Hopefully we’ll get out there early enough to unfasten the strap. Our trash bins are not like the ones in the description but the strap is very versatile as to length and where you can hook it so it works fine.

The hooks for the this strap are of a heavy metal material. The strap is also adjustable in length. Very easy to use. Works as expected. I wish one side was a better attachment to the trash can. I’m afraid the sanitation when they unhook since both sides are hooks. That the strap will fall to ground and eventually be lost.

Doesn't require drilling holes, easy to place, and adjustable.

There are a lot of garbage can straps out there, and I'm not particularly impressed with this one. My other strap has a loop to go around the back hinge. The two claw design seems worse for two reasons. First, it's not as secure for a larger animal like a bear. And second, the strap is only secured to the can when tight, which means every time you loosen it is no longer attached and can fall off, especially during pickup.
