I've put together more than 100 3D wooden mechanical puzzles including book nooks and I have to say, this is one of my favorites when completed. There are some really fragile pieces so make sure to "take your time & pay attention" to the details. If you do that, you will have no issues.I recommend this one and would definitely buy it again.

Very well made with clear instructions. Need to make sure all burrs are removed and gears etc. are waxed and tested before moving on to next assembly instruction. Quite complex but very rewarding to do and works beautifully if care is taken with the assembly. Highly recommended.

The concept for the kit is pretty cool, though I find the storage space to be pretty small but it works for little trinkets. I would say ugears is just below rokr in terms of kit quality. I do wish they would provide more spare parts but the wood quality is solid. The instructions could be better but it's doable. Overall, would recommend.

この手の作品は初めてだったのもあり、作るのに時間がかかりました。部品の切り抜きは大体綺麗に取れますが、取れにくい時や、他のパーツとの接合で硬い時に折れそうで不安になります。また私の作成が下手なのかもしれませんが、歯車の動きが硬かったりで何度もしていると鍵が折れそうに感じます。快適な仕上がりにするのは想像していたより難易度が高く感じました。

I have always built plastic models, but there is something addictive to building these laser cut wood models. A bit costly, but worth it. A lot of fun to build. Nearly zero sanding, but I suggest to get or use a small sanding block. I’ve built the puzzle boxes and puzzle book, am having a ball, so I bought the fire engine for my Christmas present!

This "book" is a work of art to be assembled by you. It is very detailed and intricate. As other UGEARS designs, the instructions are detailed and clear to follow.As it is true that no glue or special tools are required to assemble this model. It may be required to sand off some spots on some pieces as they're broken off a matrix plank of wood. My recommendation is that you do this with a fine sand paper 240 or 320 to avoid sanding off too much.The model is also useful, is has a small chamber (about 7 x 5.5 inched) to hide small objects.The locks are functional. It is very interesting to put them together and to see them in operation.Overall, a very interesting model. It makes a good gift to a curious person, but not a kid, in my opinion, because it could be very frustrating as it requires some skill and care to handle the breakable pieces.

This Book of Secrets kit contains 263 pieces, laser cut out of six sheets of 3mm plywood. Two of the sheets came stained dark brown giving the finished puzzle box nice contrasting parts. The parts were all cleanly cut. I did take the time to sand down all of the connecting sprue's whether they were going to be seen or not. If they were going to be visible, I also hid the sanded area with a touchup stain pen. I waxed all of the moving parts really good, and it paid off, the mechanism works exactly as it should. The box claims a six-hour assembly time, but I was more than double that. The instructions were very easy to follow with one small error. They mislabeled sheet 5 as sheet 4 on page 27 of the instructions. It was one of the last parts needed so it was easy to find. I agree with their difficulty rating of three on a scale of 1 the 5. A fun build, but not for first time builders.
