More or less a long mousepad, but very clean and has nice edge stitching. Easily fits my shotgun length while I work on it and has absorbed the stray squirt of gun lube without penetrating.

This gun cleaning mat is well-made and a great value. The material is thick and durable, with stitched edges and a non-slip backing that keeps it in place. The detailed diagrams are clear and helpful, if that's what you're looking for---this is not a purely black mat. The magnetic tray is a nice touch, keeping small parts from rolling away.It shipped quickly and lays flat pretty shortly after being rolled out. Overall, a solid mat that’s built tough—highly recommend!

Thought it was solid black. Don't mind the AR-15 exploded view but it showed solid, that's why I ordered this one. But it's as good as the one I had from Midway USA.. should last many years.

This is my first cleaning mat I ever owned. I used to use old newspapers to clean my guns on, but with more guns to clean I figured it was time to purchase a mat. Anyway, going back to the mat. This mat is a very durable with ample amount of cleaning space. The surface is waterproof and no gun solvent will leak through at all. When you are all done cleaning or repairing your guns, simply wipe it off with towel or rag. Also, I really like the magnetic tray that comes with the mat. Very handy if you are taking firing pins, springs, and screws. Overall, this mat met all of my expectations and worth every dollar.

The mat itself comes with a better detail than the picture let's you zoom. The mat is heavy duty and feels like it with withstand a TON us use and will not need replaced any time soon... I'm talking years here.The magnetic tray surprised me. I anticipated a cheap, tiny tray that would be mostly useless, but that wasn't the case at all. The tray is solid, heavy, much bigger than expected, and could easily be used for gun smithing or garage work.I am highly satisfied with this purchase, and will be buying a second one to teach disassembly and cleaning at a more hands on level.

Positives: clear graphics, nice padding, stitched edging and it beads liquids. The magnetic tray was a bonus and works. The magnets on the underside have a rubberized type coating, so they have a no-mar surface too. Time will tell how well the pad holds up, but so far so good and the price is right.Observation: I didn't notice until too late there is a 16" x 36" model too from the same vendor/manufacturer. The 12" works for me, and I'm happy with it. However, and since space was not an issue, I think I would have opted for the larger item. And it's only a couple of dollars more...at the time of this post.Cons: none so far
