Jake is a big golden retriever, and has a lot of fur. His undercoat is legendary (in our house). If I don't keep it well brushed daily, there is fur flying everywhere. This brush/undercoat rake does a wonderful job removing the fur to keep it out of the carpet, blankets, and generally everywhere Jake hangs out. I have some similar undercoat rakes, but they seem to have the problem of statically charging his fur, and I have to stop every brush or 2 to grab it before it flies away. I haven't seen that problem with this rake. I wonder if the wooden handle helps with that - or some other feature of the rake (or maybe it's just not static-y right now). That reason alone makes me very pleased with this product. The hair cleans out of the tines easily. The only con - the spacing of the tines. From the photo, I saw that it was 2-sided. I incorrectly assumed that one side had wider spacing, and the other a narrower spacing. Instead, both sides have a fairly narrow spacing. For long thick dog fur, that makes me have to go slower when brushing him - and not go as deeply into his fur on the first few passes. But after that I have removed some fur, it's easier to go a bit deeper on subsequent passes.

The main brush in this set works well. I expect the two supplemental brushes have purposes, but I'm not a pet groomer, and I don't know what they are. The set came with no instructions. The set also came with no case of any kind, and I can't even store the brushes in the plastic holder they came in because the two supplemental brushes were taped onto the back of that plastic insert. The brushes do seem to be good quality, with solid metal heads and wooden handles.
