I picked this up as a no-fuss metal detector for casual use. With just two knobs, it's refreshingly simple to use — no menus or complicated settings to dig through. The detector feels solid in the hand, though the included headset is pretty basic and feels a bit cheap. That said, it does the job.I don’t currently have a need to go underwater with it, but the waterproofing (rated to 130 feet) is a nice bonus for beach or creek hunting — just in case. I tested it on a few “known finds” and after getting a feel for the tones and behavior, I was able to reliably detect them. That gave me confidence that it’s dialed in well enough for hobbyist use.I’m excited to bring this out to our ghost town property and see what’s buried out there. For the price and simplicity, this is a great option if you want something that just works.

Overall impression - good basi (very basic) metal detector, but with many detractors.Pros an Cons:Cons:1) Very basic, comparable, literally, to my friend's 15 year old brand name detector.2) Dial controls rather than digital touch screen controls I've become used to in metal detectors. A potential problem underwater with neoprene gloves on. They are a challenge to use with my neoprene wetsuit gloves on.3) No digital readout/screen - another feature I've become used to in my other metal detectors.4) High price, more than half again the cost of competitive, non-waterproof (but water resistent) detectors5) As someone who has been scuba diving and/or snorkling in all sorts of conditions, all around the World, in wetsuits and drysuits,. for over 40 years, for the LIFE OF MY, I can't imagine trying to deal with the headphones while scuba diving! And these headphones are NOT otional, they can't be detached from the electronics. If this is the value proposition that justifies the high price, good luck!6) No discrimination/elimination feature. You can not select metals to ignore like many modern metal detectors with digital readout screens.Pros:1) Very good at detecting, responsive to the dials2) Waterproof - at least when submerged in a couple feet of water (yet to take it below two feet depth)3) Easy to assemble - excellent instructions (a rarity in metal detectors these days)4) Metal components (shaft) are much more durable than the plastic of many detectors today. In adding up the pros and cons, unless your primary usage will be completely submerged as in scuba diving, the cons outweigh the pros. Otherwise, the value proposition isn't competitive with other, more modern, digital detectors.I would add one suggestion for the instructions. As a long time scuba diver, I've learned that when installing any component that is intended to seal a watertight compartment and uses a rubber or silicone gasket, such as the battery compartment in this detector, using a silicone grease is the absolute best way to insure a watertight seal and extend the life of the seal itself. This is not just common practice, but virtually a universal requirement. Promoting this metal detectors as waterproof to 130' (40 meters), and leaving this out of the instruction video makes me wonder about the thoroughness of the testing. Just saying.....A generous 3 stars.

We have numerous rivers, streams, and creeks around our area that have been begging for us to search. There have been numerous historical events that have taken place here with lost or stolen treasures and other valuables but they have never been thoroughly searched in the water areas. We got this Hazlewolke WP6027 underwater metal detector just for searching these water areas. Our other expensive metal detector cannot be used in water areas so this alleviates the problem there. The fact that we will never reach the depth areas that this can go means that we will be able to operate well within the machines limits.I like the knobs as they are easy to control and are large in diameter. The fact that it gives you descriptive noises telling you which type of metal and at the depth is great. It's easy to use and the 9 volt battery lasts quite a while but I always keep a spare with me at all times.I also like the fact that it has directional noise leading you to your discovery. One negative is that the headphones are hard wired so if they go bad I can't repair them easily just by plugging them in. The manufacturer may want to reconsider that next time.Overall, the unit is easy to operate, accurate and well worth the money.

I've only owned one other metal detector, and this product works far better. The Hazlewolke "Underwater Metal Detector, 130ft Waterproof Metal Detector with Pinpoint Mode" arrives disassembled in a smaller square box.Assembly is straightforward. Attach the sensing coil and handle, and assemble the metal tubes along with the electronics case. Add a nine volt battery (included). While we didn't find any "treasure" on our first foray out, the detector is remarkably stable with no metal present. The unit clearly discerns between ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Using modern coins, silver coins and gold jewelry, we got different tones depending upon the test metal. Moreover, the "pinpoint mode" allows you to "wand in" on a potential find with a "Geiger counter" tone indicating proximity to metals. There are no meters, but the audio tone and flashing detection light are more than adequate to home in on finds. The metal detector arrives with a battery compartment tool, spare gasket, battery and assembly operation manual. The unit also includes a transport bag with three compartments. Unfortunately the unit must be broken down to use the bag, but that's better than nothing. This is a nice product that, with practice, will have the user will be locating metals in no time. While it is billed as an under water product, we did not try this. However it does appear to be fully gasketed.Pros:-Appears to be liquid tight-Solid detection with test metals-Disassembles for storage and transport-Adjustable sensitivity and metal type detectionCons:-No volume control-Headphones only (no speaker)
