The ribbon and ink are fine, but the plastic spool won't stay in place if not inserted exactly right. I think metal spools are superior.

This ribbon does fit the Oviletti-Underwood 21 typewriter. The ribbon includes the eyelets which actuates the auto-reversal mechanism when reaching the end of the ribbon. The only gripe I have with this product is that the spool is made of plastic rather than metal. If you want to, you can transfer the ribbon to the original spools with a little work. Overall the plastic build is not a big enough deal to knock off a star.

I bought this to replace what I thought was dry ink ribbon in a used Underwood 319 typewriter,but even after having to install this, the black ink is still fading at times in my typewriter.After running through my typewriter alot it finally types normally.The instructions on the package tell me to put it in my typewriter the wrong way,so that made it even harder to install.

ok, perhaps its silly but a friend found an old Underwood late 1940's typewriter which had "starred" in the film "Night Shift" (have to see it one day).The old Underwood was a bit stiff etc, but some WD40 and a bit of work and the bell was ringing and the keys atyping. But no ribbon ! - so I bought this generic ribbon and it fitted with no problem.Now I can write classic blackmail letters in black and even red, each key being totally distinctive !Nice that it fits and brings this old machine back to life.
