I have the R8 in one car. Loved it so much bought another for the other car. Just got to be a PITA switching it from Camaro to Corvette all the time. This one will be so much easier to update with the W option. Note- AWESOME when used in conjunction with the 3rd party R8Companion app.

So far in testing, I love this one even more than my Uniden R3. The detection is sensitive in the right ways, and the arrows are amazing. I'm also loving being able to update it via Wi-Fi, talk about making my life easier!

Upgrading from the R7 to this. Overall I think this device is amazing and it definitely is more sensitive than my R7 was. But im leaving a 3 star because Uniden promised laser jammer support and has yet to deliver on it. I'll update later if they release it

My issue is with Amazon not uniden. It had issues right out of the box, Everytime the unit went off only the rear arrow would show no matter the direction the signal was coming from. I called uniden and the answered immediately, i wasn't even on hold they were super friendly and and helped diagnose the issues. They told me that I can send it into them for them to fix it but because I just bought it they recommended that I send it back for a replacement. Amazon will not let me get a replacement they only offer a refund which they said will take 3 weeks to a month to receive Where then I can order a new one after I get my refund.

In addition to great range and the WiFi (for firmware and database updates), the large screen and front facing dim/mute and mark buttons set this detector apart from the competition. Customizable settings, including band segmentation, screen displays and other customer preferences are easily set via the app, PC, or manually. The alert tones grab your attention quickly, giving plenty of response time. I've owned many detectors through the years and the R8w is by far my favorite!

Easy to setup through the uniden app on my android phone. I was able to update this R8w wirelessly by connecting it to my house wifi 2.4ghz. The radar performs very well and has quite a good distance of alerting you. I have noticed so far it picks up the radar from newer Honda minivans. Also wish it had 5ghz option but other then that I find this radar to be a great purchase.
