Tips for Measuring a Head for Size

- A non-stretching cloth or flexible measuring tape is best (a non-stretch string or rope can also work)
- Place tape on the largest part of head, approximately 1/2 inch above the ears and above the eyebrows - exact position is personal preference
- Measure using inches (nearest 1/8 inch) or centimeters (nearest 1/4 cm), which ever you prefer
- Hold the tape to the head as tightly as the desired fit - snug and probably tighter than you think it should be - tightness is personal preference
- Be accurate and measure more than once - write down the measurement

Bought bought three of these sent two back because there is a adjustment button in the back that does not work properly. The biggest problem I have not gotten my money back. I mailed them with the labels that was sent to me. I buy almost everything from Amazon since the Pandemic begins. We spend thousands per month. Disappointed!!!

Very much a fan of my new hat! I haven't seen many reviews of these Zavelio hats by women, so I thought I ought to write one. I had a vintage trapper hat like this but my mom's dog chewed it up, argh.... looking for a potential replacement, Zavelio seemed like a good option for being affordable while also using real shearling and getting reasonably good reviews. The only thing that made me hesitate was the frequent mention that they run small, but those reviews seemed to be mainly large-headed dudes. Measuring my head circumference I got about 22 1/4", give or take an eighth of an inch--approx a hat size 7 1/8. I went for a medium and it fits great. There's an elastic cord in the back that lets you tighten the circumference a bit, too. The shearling isn't incredibly deep pile, but is warm, and feels super soft. The leather of the hat is soft, but a bit thin, and the finish seems slightly permeable--not suede exactly, but without a finish that would hold up to a lot of rain/snow. I think I may try to scotchguard it (or similar) to resist the Minnesota winter.The snap system is clever. When not in use, the little strip of leather with snaps on both ends attaches to the back of the hat. You can detach it and use it to snap the ear flaps up over the top (which looks ridiculous on me) or under the chin. Unfortunately, there is *way* too much slack in the under-the-chin configuration. It's so loose it's not useful, and the only way to shorten the strap is to tie it into a knot. Typing the strap in a knit makes it just about short enough to keep the ear flaps snug under the chin, but it does look sloppy.All in all, a good hat--a few small quibbles, but the look and the comfort and warmth are there, and the price point for similar hats is like twice as much, so I'm definitely keeping it.
