I previously had the other style storage piece here. The plastic one that connects over the top of the shifter console and has the two pockets hanging down. But I was never happy with it. It was flimsy, the self stick tape never kept it in place and the pockets were too narrow and shallow for much. This is SUCH an awesome upgrade! As we all know, Jeeps are completely impractical and have like zero storage. And my 11 year old son does his hair in the car on the way to school every day, somehow needing both sea salt spray and texturizing powder. Don’t ask, I can’t explain it. The old caddy was too narrow for these products but now he can do his hair with ease every morning without having to search the car for the bottle of sea salt spray rolling around on the floor. Oh and my sunglasses and chapstick have a happy home on the other side too. 100% recommend!

These Jeep Wrangler JL metal storage bins are awesome.They are thick heavy metal, much higher quality that I expected. I expect these will last for as long as your jeep lasts.The install is super easy and straight forward. It comes with all the parts and tool needed to remove the plastic cover cap and bolt, and to screw in the new bolt and mounting plate on the sides of the shifter knob area.The actual storage bins have rubber lining on the interior bottom. And the magnets that hold them to the mounting plate are extremely strong. These will not fall or or get bumped off by your leg, they require a good grip and intentional force to remove them. They snap right back into place very easily.I had ordered the plastic bins for this same area...its like one piece with a bin on each side and a bar that goes across the center console area (behind the shifter knob)...I installed it for 5 mins and then removed it. It was flimsy and actually didnt fit that well. It was also ment to be stuck on with double sided tape, making it more of a semi permanent install. I just did not like that product and did not use it.Then I saw these metal ones that are easily removable if you need to move your seat far forward. I ordered them thinking "I'll try this option"...but I was blown away by the quality, appearance, ease of install...did I mention the quality?! and the strong magnets.If you're looking for a little extra storage, I know the plastic ones are a popular option and there are many of them. Forget those...get these instead. I just installed them a few days ago before a long road trip and loved the convenience of placing my keys in there, a protein bar, a pack of gum, some hair ties, a receipt to be thrown out later. On the passenger side my daughter placed her phone in there.Super great, best "center console, shifter, side storage" option you can get IMHO. And they look really good too.
