US Cargo Control Bolt Type Anchor Shackle is made of tough, durable, hot-dip galvanized steel. This galvanized anchor shackle has a rounded "O" shape look, which allows this type of shackle to take a load from many directions without developing significant side load. Bolt type shackles are a great choice to use for permanent or long-term applications, or if there's a risk of a load sliding on the shackle pin that causes it to rotate. The bolt pin in the bolt type shackle allows it to be secured better due to the nut that is screwed on the other end. This heavy duty shackle is tough and durable which makes it a great accessory to use with nylon and polyester slings, and with tow and recovery straps. Great for protecting lifting slings from damage due to cutting or abrasion. When attaching a single sling or multiple slings to the shackle, connect them to the body, and not the pin to avoid damage. In general, it is ideal to use the galvanized shackle for industrial applications or areas where moisture is not a concern. Galvanized steel has a thin coating of zinc oxide to protect the steel from elements that lead to corrosion and oxidation. If you need an anchor shackle for low humidity or moisture areas, the galvanized screw pin anchor shackle would be the best choice as it is more inexpensive than the stainless steel. It's important to know that the larger loop shape of an anchor shackle does reduce its overall strength, but it is also able to handle a larger strap. The anchor shackle can be side loaded. Be sure to check the working load limit (WLL) of the shackle to ensure it will work for your intended use. Always ensure the pins are straight and properly engaged. Shackles should be inspected before each use. If you see bending on the body or pin, remove the shackle from use and dispose of it. As with all equipment with stated load limits, these strength limits are based on proper use. Improper use will decrease strength and may cause the shackle to fail.
