Hard to tell what this item is since there isn't even a description or picture in the listing. This is a photoelectric smoke detector which is hard to find, at least in the US. Most detectors are ionization detectors which are good at detecting fast flaming fires. Photoelectric detectors are better at detecting slow smoldering fires. I'm using this detector on my boat in conjunction with an ionization detector. Thankfully I haven't had a fire so I can't comment on the detection ability of this detector. This detector is rated for RV use which helps eliminate false alarms when used in RVs or boats. No false alarms so far. The down side to this detector is the built in battery which is only good for five years, but this seems to be the only RV rated option for a photoelectric detector.
