This little bluetooth transmitter/receiver is OK. I've used much better, with better sound quality, range, reliability, etc. But it does technically work over a short range. The instructions are confusing. I'm pretty sure you have the red light means transmitter mode, and the blue light is receiver mode. If you're having issues with connectivity, that might explain it. Thankfully once you set the mode, it remembers it even when powered off.I do like how small this adapter is, much smaller than others I've used. But I guess some compromises must have been made to get it this small, since it isn't very reliable. Honestly you may be better off with just running a cable, over the relatively short distances this thing is dependable over. I also noticed quite a bit of interference in the sound, even with using a laptop nearby (almost positive using WiFi on the laptop audibly interfered with the sound). But for short distances where you don't care too much about the sound quality, it's certainly not a scam product. And maybe it works better in receiver mode, I'm not sure. But I might think twice before cheaping out on this part of your audio setup, since this adapter is small but unfortunately not all that mighty.

The sound quality of this adapter is not the best, but it's not bad in an airplane environment with a lot of noise, where you are not really critically listening anyways. This is probably more of a convenience application, where the headphones you carry can directly be used in many different situations. It's very compact compared to other bluetooth transmitters on the market, but since it relies on power from a USB port, you may have wires stretching around. (United has USB power next to headphone ports, so I can use it with minimal seat clutter)Make sure you test it out at home, and pair the device with your earphones before your trip. The adapter appears to hold the mode (transmit or receive) and the headphones they were paired last as the persistent setting for the next time it's powered on. Since there is no display or interface on both this device and on the headphone side, it may take a little playing around until you get them to pair together.I also carry one of these audio splitter adapters. I'm not sure why, but some airlines still use these types of jacks on their in flight entertainment systems. It seems to still exist even on newer entertainment systems.

I ordered this because my car doesn't have bluetooth, and when I plug in a charger for my phone and the headphone out, I get some sort of weird interference, probably from some ground loop problem or something. The first thing I noticed is that it feels and looks very cheap. Then I plugged it in to my CLA and it wasn't very snug, and it stuck out of the USB socket quite a bit (see picture). Did it fix my interference problem? Unfortunately, no--it generates the same interference. (Which probably indicates it is indeed a ground loop issue). Looks like I might have to go with an RF-transmitter based bluetooth solution. On the plus side, it connected just fine to my phone. When I shut off the car and started it back up, it successfully reconnected to my phone as well. It will probably function for most people's needs, but longevity is doubtful with the loose USB connection.

I had a hard time figuring it out and had to watch a YouTube video to understand, as the instructions were confusing. I still don't quite understand it. It doesn't help that there is only one button on it. Once I finally got it working, I realized there was a static sound playing in my headphones, although it wasn't audible when other sound was playing. It doesn't work sometimes though. I have spent way too much time trying to pair it with my headphones, many times with no luck, but then it will work the next day for some reason.
