I have 35 years of experience in IT so well acquainted with this technology. I mainly got this to work with my IDE drives as I already had an external SATA drive reader from a different vendor. I had several IDE and SATA hard drives. I took everything out of the box and connected everything properly and connected an IDE drive to it plugging into a USB 2.0 port. The desktop computer would see the drive and then drop it bouncing back and forth with all kinds of beeping. I swapped it out with a SATA drive that I knew was good and it did the same thing. I thought I'd try the USB C port on my Dell laptop. I tried it first with the same IDE drive and everything worked fine at first. I could do a DIR on the drive with no problems. Switched it off and swapped to another IDE drive. Turned it on and nothing. Only the red light came on. Turned it off and plugged back in the IDE drive that had just worked and nothing but the red light. I then tried a SATA drive and no power at all. It never would turn on after that. So, I just packed up the HD Reader Adapter and returned it. I was really hoping it would have worked on my one of my PC's. All my PC's are running Windows 11 and I keep them all up to the latest patch levels.

For someone in the IT world, this is a must-have tool. So many different connection methods to do different drive styles or even an optical drive! Great to be able to use this no matter how old a drive is, and the speeds seem really nice too! USB-A and USB-C connection adapter is a really nice touch!
