I plugged this into my PC and it could not read any of the Hard Drives that I have, and I've tried multiple hard drives. Disappointment.

This review is for the MAIWO SATA to USB Cable, 2.5 inch SATA SSD/HDD to USB 3.0 Adapter, External Hard Drive Converter Reader for 2.5 inch SATA I/II/III SSD/HDD, 8TB Capacity (K104A-Black), by MAIWO.I ordered this converter so that I could access some HDD’s that had come out of systems that were having issues. The first thing I do when I repair a computer for someone is try to save their files. The best way to do this is to remove the hard drive and attach it externally to another computer. This is especially important if the hard drive has corruption or possibly a virus. This is small enough that I can toss it in my bag along with a few other tools to take with me. I tried this on two solid state HDD’s so far, a Samsung 850 EVO, 1 tb, and it recognized the drive immediately and I was able to access the partitions and save files. I then used it with an OCZ Technology, solid 3 series, SATA SDD, 120 GB, and it too was recognized. So far I am pleased with the results and will add this to my arsenal of tools for repairing computers.

Works great no issues delivering was on time. Plug and play tried a couple different brands and no problems. The only thing was I had to use an external power source but, that was due to low voltage from PC.

How many years do you keep your laptop or desktop computers? At one point, your computer(s) will be e-waste anyway. Before throwing them away, remove your hard drives so you won’t lose the data and/or any valuable, sensitive information. That is when this adapter comes in place! It is compatible with 2.5” SATA SSD or HDD, and transfers data via USB 3.0 port to your current computer. With this portable and durable adapter, your old hard drives become external mobile storages. No software needed, just plug and play. Great value!

I was looking forward to this being an upgrade over my older USB 2.0 IDE/SATA adapters. Unfortunately, mine is either broken, or there is a serious design flaw with these. When I plug it into a USB 2.0 port, all works as expected (albeit at USB 2.0 speeds). When I plug it into a USB 3.0 port it will start to spin up an initialize a disk but the disk will then shut down, as will the status LEDs on the adapter itself. This happened on two different computers, and two different hard drives that I tested with. One drive was a 3.5" SATA drive externally powered and the other was a 2.5" IDE drive powered right from the adapter; both were known good drives. One computer was running Windows 10, the other running Linux Mint.It is a handy bit of kit, but I can't recommend this specific one given the problems I experienced. I do like the power supply this has over the bulky one that my old adapter cables use, so its not a total loss for me.
