You can't draw the knife from the fabric sheath, because the gimicky notches on the spine of the knife catch on the sheath. I just returned the knife, and didn't even try sawing any logs with those notches, but I expect they aren't all that functional. And if you were planning to use the knife in a fight for your life, those notches would also catch and hang up on your attackers clothes, etc. There are practical reasons that even fighting knives and swords have smooth spines.

Gefällt mir sehr gut, schneide ist allerdings nicht scharf. Die Säge ist ganz gut geschärft. Liegt gut in der Hand und macht auch sonst einen sehr guten Eindruck.

Nice and beefy. A good chopper. The sheath could be better -> snags a lot on the serrations.

Hola, por desgracia la funda del machete no me sirve, soy derecho y la funda es para un zurdo. De ahí en fuera el machete es muy lindo, duradero y con diseño chulo.

I was bummed that I'd have to wait 2 weeks to see this beauty. Low and behold I come home from work to find a priority mail 3 day marked box. I was estatic. I really appreciate the haste. The blade turned out to be well worth the price paid. Good comfortable grip, a fine edge, and a surprisingly as advertised size. The sheath looks pretty standard, but for $26 I really dont care. Quality product.

My only "what on Earth?" moment was when pulling it from the supplied sheath the first few times. The large teeth on the spine of the knife face "the wrong way" (by my reckoning) and each one gets caught on the hem of the sheath on the way out, unless or until you learn to draw it properly. Once you do know how to draw it properly, this might be one of the only general-purpose camping utility knives you'll ever need to own. Cosmetically, it's a bit blah, and even looks a bit cheap, but that blade is sharp as a laser, and very well balanced indeed, and that cheap-looking handle is surprisingly comfortable. I haven't yet cut down a tree with it, but frankly I'd like my odds if I had to.

I used this while battoning wood and it worked like a charm. Then I process said wood into various smaller sized bits in order to build a fire with. It stayed sharp the whole entire time. Knife doesn't come all that sharp, however, and I sharpened it myself prior to going camping with it. Despite the rather gaudy design and etching, this is a good knife/machete.

This is a high quality knife. I thought that it would be the typical machete type of pewter blade which does not hold a edge. This has a steel blade and is very impressive to look at and hold. Mine is very sharp right out of the box. Two of these would look fantastic hanging as crossed swords in the finest of living rooms. The published description of this item on Amazon does not do it justice.

Just received this today. Guess I should have read ALL of the comments, as I was quite annoyed to see that the sheath is left-handed. The knife does not rattle (yet?) out of the box. The blade isn't dull, but it could have been sharper. The serrations at the top-front and bottom-rear are sharp! I'm not keen on drawing this thing with my left hand, then transferring to my right hand.I have not taken it out to swing at anything yet. When I do, I'll post an update.

I'll start with it is awesome looking. However it is not sharp out of the box. The serrations are. After running it through about two times through my lansky sharpener to put a usable edge on it - it is an amazing tool. Primarily for hacking and sawing. Very sturdy construction. I have zero complaints.
