The ir receiver on our old Sony monitor failed. My husband removed the old part and soldered in the replacement. Problem solved- the monitor is responding to the remote control again. Well worth the $7 (and there are nine diodes left!). I can't comment on the night vision.

This version is for intermittent use only. Be aware that this version of the IR receiver, when presented with a solid 38KHz IR carrier will output an approximately 300msec long pulse and then will deactivate until the carrier is removed. This is fine for many uses, but not mine. I need the output to be active as long as a carrier is present.
