Yes it's plastic...it was sent as a gift for my 6 year old. I think $40 spent on adult version would be a better use of money. The screen was also defective. I had trouble working the thing. . . Doesnt seem super intuitive. It was stuck on another language to begin with. If your expectations are low, great...your kid can get some play out of it. But I don't value the cheaply made products and would rather buy something different for the same money. I looked up some that are more like a handheld easy to carry around, similar product.

I have got this Microscope for my grandson and he loves it. He is really into science, even at his young age of 6! He has been collecting bits from the garden so he can take a closer look, with its 1000x magnification! He is really engaging with it as an educational tool, with its built-in camera and screen for easy viewing. It’s an affordable way to make an introduction to science for little ones and sparking their curiosity.

Christmas day and unable to use it the ratchet not connecting unable to alter the microscope poor result for what was going to be a great present for a young child.I dont think it deserves 1 star at the moment.
