I use this USB-C hub to power my laptop, and act as a docking station for an external monitor, keyboard and mouse.Like other similar USB-C hubs, this docking station does not include a power supply, but uses the power supply included with your computer. Basically, you connect your power supply to the hub, then the hub to your computer.I'm pleased with how this docking station performs. Once all the peripherals are set up just once, just plug the dedicated USB-C cable from the docking station into the computer and you're all set with no additional setup.Just make sure that the monitor(s) you're planning on using have the right type connector for the docking station or you may have to get an adapter.I've been pleased with this docking station so far; recommend.

I have more USB-C bricks and more USB cords, so I bought this as sort of a port multiplier for charging purposes, and that's how I tested it. I had convinced myself that the first port wasn't powered, but the other two were, but it was sort of pot luck on which port would work, and if/when. The device has promise, but the execution is flawed enough that I wouldn't risk a mission-critical charge with one device, let alone two or three. It's small, and lightweight. That's about the (faint) praise I can offer.

I have to admit that I could not fully test this product. I don't know what I was thinking when I ordered a usb-c plug when I wanted to connect it to a Raspberry pi, which only has usb-a ports. But that is not why I dinged it a star.I did plug an external drive into it, and tried turning each port on and off. I can confirm that I could hear and feel the drive power up when it was supposed to.BUT, there is no real documentation with the unit. Read the info on the Amazon page very carefully, because there is more info there than in the box. And there is absolutely no contact information for the company that I could find. Even though it is a simple device, a lack of documentation, and especially no contact information, is more than enough to drop my review down to 4 stars.

This product did not have any documentation when I got it. The only documentation therefore is what is shown on the product page on Amazon. The first application I tried was to connect multiple USB devices to a MacBook. I had a USB drive and a 512Gb SSD. I attached both of these devices to USB 3.0 ports on the hub. I attached a power source to the hub micro usb port to provide power. I attached the USB-C output of the hub to the MacBook. I have attached a picture of this to this review. When the hub gets power it has a little blue light so you know it has power (you can see it in the picture). I could see files on both the SSD and the hard drive and could transfer files between them and view the files. The second application I tried was to use the hub to charge multiple devices. I attached a power source to the micro usb port to provide power. I then attached 2 iPhone 13 phones each with usb/lightning cables to the USB 3.0 ports of the hub. They both started to charge. In another test I attached only an 8th generation iPad (NOT PD capable) with a usb/lightning cable to the hub (only device connected. The iPad battery turned green then after a number of seconds changed to "not charging". If I connected the iPad directly to the power source with a usb 3.0/lightning cable it charged as expected. I am not sure why this didn't work. The third application I tried was to connect the SSD or (1 at a time) hard drive to an iPhone 13. For all of these attempts I connected a power source to the micro-USB port on the hub. I connected the iPhone 13 to the hub with a USB 3.0/lightning cable, Connected the SSD to a USB 3.0 port on the hub. The iPhone 13 could not see the SSD. I removed the iPhone 13 and connected the iPad (8th generation) and this did not work. I repeated this by removing the SSD and plugging in the hard drive and trying the iPhone 13 and then replacing the iPhone with the iPad. iPad and it did not work either.I don't know much about this device because there is no documentation. I can say it works with a MacBook. If this is your application then it works for me. Otherwise you will just have to try it to find out if it will work or not.

This USB hub is very handy, since my laptop has very few ports. I need a hub to accommodate extras like an external mouse, joystick, etc. This has 4 standard USB ports + 1 micro USB. Its speed seemed decent to me. It has a blue indicator that lights up when the hub is plugged in.The hub also works with my Android cell phone, which is awesome. Until now my phone could only use a micro sd for additional space, but now with this hub, it can now read flash drives as well. However, I really don’t have a use for the micro USB port, which is a real pity, since the space would've been better served by adding a type C instead. Other than that complaint, this hub is a very useful and essential little tool.

My PC is a little far from my sitting position and I wanted a few USB outlets underneath my monitor to plug in USB drivers or charge my phone. So many of the hubs were overly complicated and I just wanted something small and simple. This badboy along with a USBC extension cable was the perfect solution. It works great and being USB C powered means my devices charge decently fast and my flash drives have decent speeds. Obviously if you want the fastest transfer rates you'll want to use a USBC flash driver plugged dirctly into your computer but this is a great alternative for anyone who just needs a few more USB A 3.0 slots.
