This router is lightening fast but the signal barely reaches my second floor rear bedroom. If it wasn’t for the fact that I live in a small house and am locked to a Fios-compatible router, I’d have returned it.

I've been a Fios customer for over 10 years and recently updated to the fancy Fios One cable boxes. I've upgraded my internal network to all kinds of higher-end networking hardware, and kept the original Actiontec Moca device they provided when I first signed up. Unfortunately, to activate the new Fios cable boxes, you need a Quantum router.After a whole lot of tinkering I finally caved and decided I need to get a Quantum router, even if it wasn't going to be an actual gateway for my setup. Going directly through Verizon was going to result in a very expensive purchase that really wasn't going to be used to it's fullest capacity, so I was looking for an inexpensive, but relatively official solution that didn't involve Ebay.So when I found a refurbished Quantum router, directly through Amazon, it's really the perfect solution for what I needed to accomplish. Activation and integration to my network was dead simple, and my cable boxes were up in 5 minutes.The box itself included the power cable, a short ethernet cable, and the router itself. I'm fairly proficient with computers and plenty of extra cables to finish connecting it all up. But for a more novice user, this might be a jarring surprise.The router and hardware all seem to perform as expected. The Wireless signal is good, but I wouldn't say impressive (at least compared to my current setup). Still if you're in a pinch and need a Quantum router, or an exact replacement, this should do the job for you.If you're experienced in computing, it's definitely highly rated 5/5.If you're less experienced, I'd call it a 4/5 just because no instructions and minimal ables compared to what you presumably get from a "normal" install kit.

This is a renewed product, and so far it works perfectly. I replaced my old Actiontec FIOS router with this one. The WIFI signal is MUCH improved relative to the Actiontec router - all my WIFI dead spots were fixed by switching to this router. IMHO, purchasing this router is way better then paying the $12-$15 monthly fee that Verizon charges to rent the router. In 8 months you break even relative to renting the router. The only negative is that by purchasing this router, I'm kind of stuck with FIOS for the foreseeable future. Folks can chime in if I'm wrong, but I don't believe this router will work with any other ISP other then FIOS. So if RCN comes out with a great deal, you'd need to replace this router with another one.

Seriously, the one you buy from Verizon themselves is around/over $60!!! I'm so glad a renewed and cheaper version is available. It works just like new and so easy to install and connect. Highly highly recommend to save your money and look out for the environment!

The VZ tech that came to my home showed me the router to look for on Amazon, but he cautioned that the model with the *grey* base is limited to 100 Mbps and I should get the model with the *black* base. The model numbers seem to be the same. So based on a photo that appeared to show a black base, my first order arrived with a grey base and I did not get the speeds that I was looking for. So I returned it and, based on some of the comments mentioning 300-500 Mbps speeds achieved, ordered this model. Black base! Works great.

The setup of the router is easy and simple. The price was excellent and the cost of 3 months of rental. I will never rent a router and will own from here on even should I upgrade my internet speed and have to purchase another. I only stream, no gaming, so the 400/400 internet speed is fine. I don’t believe this will work with higher internet speeds. If you’re a Verizon customer I highly recommend buying the router, this is refurbished and works fine.

I scheduled a Verizon FIOS new service internet install, drove 2 1/2 hours to the new apartment to get internet set up that day. The Verizon technician had to be there for the install, because the Verizon FIOS terminal equipment had to be installed in the apartment first, before I could connect the Verizon Quantum Gateway Amazon Renewed router. He connected the Amazon Renewed router and it powered up....but it never would "connect". He waited 15 minutes....never connected. So he said it must be a bad router and should be returned. I needed internet that day, so I had no choice but to have him install a new Verizon router ($15/mon fee) to get me up and running that day. The Verizon provided new router connected within a few minutes. This is my first Amazon Renewed purchase, disappointed that it did not work out of the box.

Considering Verizon service demands this router [or one other higher priced model], you need this for the service to work optimally. I was using another router and it kept bumping me offline. As soon as I plugged this in it worked very quickly, and configuring it was a snap. Nothing but smooth reliable internet, streaming, gaming, and no bumping me off. Highly recommended router!! And getting it refurbished was at a great price too.
