I guess the carbide tip was glued to the steel on this bit. I was building a speargun and used it on a small piece of wood. Half way, the bit broke into two. It split into two separate pieces with a perfectly round edge and this makes me believe that this was somehow glued or soldered together. Pics attached. Since this is a marketplace seller, I have to wait and see whether they are decent. I bought it based on the other two reviews.Update: Surprisingly i read in internet that Vermont American is actually part of Bosch company and many products listed are very similar except name. So that means Bosch is also a cheapo now!!

Great bit. don't waste your money to pay for higher priced brand. This bit holds up as well as any of them. I even accidently hit a small finish nail and the bit didn't skip a beat.
