Love this book. I have made many to the sweaters. If you enjoy cables this is for you. I love how she adapted viking symbols found at historic sites to create beautiful sweaters. Charts are easy to read. In general a great book.

The patterns are all very beautiful, it is hard to decide which to start from... The patterns and the projects are lovely and unique, this Viking knitting is a real surprise for me! I also love the history which accompany the knitting patterns. Fabulous also for Aran lovers.

Since I'm not connected to this author, my opinion might actually be printed. :-PI love Elsebeth Lavold's books. Her appreciation for historical knot work is evident. She has successfully incorporated these rhythmic patterns into unique clothing designs that are relevant in the modern era and completely accessible to the modern knitter.

Coming from Denmark, it thrills me to see these patterns/ I have knitted several of Elsebeth Lavold's patterns in her other books and I love her patterns, and her yarns. As a kid I saw many of these patterns around the country on rune stones, I'm so looking forward to start knitting some of these patterns.

Creative work with interesting history. Errata can be ironed out later, typical with most new knitting books. It would be helpful to have a little more info on yarn substitutions, since even the "substitutes" are not available locally in my area. Otherwise, the designs are very beautiful, even with locally grown yarn. I have made other patterns from this designer and they all seemed to fit well.

Great transaction - speedy and without incident. The product is as described and I love the book. Elsebeth concentrates this book primarily to patterns using the Viking knots to embellish her sweaters. I have enjoyed the history she included in her book of the Viking knots as seen in their carvings and drawings and art work. Very unique ancient and beautiful. I will cherish this book....

Elsbeth Lavold and her designs are challenging and a great way to learn more about knitting. This book with its historical theme is a good read and the explanation of her designs just makes her projects even more intriguing.

I purchased this book for its use of the traveling stitch. History buffs would do well to acquire this book. The designs are very intriguing. Not a beginners book.Only drawback is that you need access to Elsebeth's first book which you should have in you library anyway:) her references to it are constant. And that is why only 4 stars. Otherwise it deserves the 5 stars.I am very pleased with this book.

Cables, cables, cables! This book is mostly sweaters, with a few notable exceptions. There is a cute matching hat & bag set ("Tova" on pgs. 50-52) and a skirt & shrug set ("Fulla" on pgs. 68-70) which is to die for.For the less adventurous, less skilled knitter, (i.e. Me) there are two projects to try out: A pillow ("Fyrunga" on pgs. 110-112) that cleverly incorporates i-cord, and a long vest ("Osk" on pgs. 40-42) that has plenty of coverage for the fullest, roundest tushie. (Again, that would be for me.)There is a great wealth of the author's personal research of the historical knot-work too, so even non-knitters will find something of interest.I was very impressed with this book and will definitely track down the author's earlier work.
