I bought this item as an anniversary gift, and I was so excited about it until it arrived. The box hinges on the box are rusted out, so I had to pry it open, and now I have to sand down the hinges and lubricate them! I also can't even see out of the telescope, so how is that even cool or useful? I will likely be returning, but I am going to let my spouse open it first and see if they even like it. But this was a huge let down!

I love the antique look. The telescope is heavier than expected. It is very well made. The box it comes in is very nice. I purchased it for my husband for our 7th Anniversary. Very satisfied,

I picked this up to give my husband for Christmas. I’m excited to watch him open it.ProsNicely packaged, it seems thought was put into keeping it in good shape during shipping.The wooden box looks nice, and has the look of being made longer ago.The hinges were in good shape and did not have any defects as a previous review mentioned. Perhaps the company looked into and corrected the issue.Telescope looks well designed to be antique styleConsThe lid seems to lack the thought the rest of the looking glass and case have. Seems rough and unfinished.This works well at viewing things at a farther distance. It will not provide a good image just looking across the house. If you aren’t able to try it somewhere where you can look far away, you can turn it around and look in the large lens, this provides a clear image closer up (where things look farther away), but this shows the lens system is working as it should.
