Everything fit fairly well on my 07 FJ Cruiser, my issues are with actual design. First, the aluminum cover for the air box is a different design than what is pictured (not too big of a deal). But also, i have trouble putting 100% confidence in it being water tight. It bolts in with two holes at the bottom that are slightly misaligned with the factory holes. No rubber gaskets or anything to help seal the holes from water. The aluminum cover does have a gasket, but could use 4 additional attachment holes/screws to better seal it in between the 4 corner points. YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO USE VOLANT FILTERS WITH THIS BOX, unless you find a big enough adapter but then you are restricting air flow. The intake tube itself was a lot thinner than expected but seems as though it will hold up just fine, and is very advantageous over the factory routing! The attachment of the MAP sensor was absolutely unbelievable! Two small screws that you screw into the intake pipe that stick out a quarter of an inch into the interior of the pipe! It just seems very generic and not very "model specific" of a fit. The holes on the sensor line up ok with the designated spots where you are to screw in. It does have a small gasket that seems to do a good job at sealing it in there. Your engine cover will be worthless now as one mounting screw is gone, it sots atop the sensor and rattles a little. I just left mine off, no big deal. The whole kit, despite the few not so big of a deal things listed, sounds great. Deep and throaty tones, which pairs well with my stainless Gibson cat back exhaust. I notice the biggest performance improvement in throttle response, WAY less hesitation! Makes the FJ more fun to drive than it already is. At nearly half the price of an Air Raid, AFE, or TRD CAI, this is a way better budget system for your FJ than the factory system. Really helps the engine breathe, eliminates hesitation, and DOES NOT throw any codes!Edit: instructions are strictly in writing, no photos. I have an extra o ring that i have no idea where it is supposed to go. Was missing one hose clamp.

CAI goals for my FJ: higher flow, better filtering, well-designed and -constructed, and compatible with a snorkel setup (which the company also has but I'm getting from a different supplier). All goals met. When the truck was in for inspection last time, the service writer highly recommended a CAI...ANY CAI...he didn't push the TRD model (which I believe is way overpriced anyway). He said that the factory intake setup "is a mess and very restrictive" and says he recommends an aftermarket CAI to all FJ owners. I've done a lot of CAIs on other cars, and was impressed by the Volant setup I'd done on a previous model that I'd owned. That led me back to them, and I'm glad I checked out the Volant setup for the FJ.I was also impressed by the availability of the PowerCore element. I'm familiar with 'em from the industrial side of things, and they're known for being far more capable/better filters that enable greater flow.Installation was almost a breeze. The two main case mounting bolt holes required some careful grinding-out with a Dremel; It probably could have been force-fit without that little bit of grinding, but re-contouring the holes made the main case (housing) fit perfectly. Everything else fit properly including the stuff transferred over from the factory setup. The only thing I added were a couple of tie-wraps for routing and to neatly hold things in place.Worst part of the whole job was first removing all the factory intake components. Once you look at those pieces and how aiflow is routed, you'll see why you'll get hp and mpg increases. The factory airflow path is quite a labyrinth. I've changed the spark plugs in the FJ a couple of times; next time it'll be easy: you can easily get to everything without tearing the OE intake setup apart to get it all out of the way.I would say the company's claimed hp increase is realistic. You can very easily feel it in hard acceleration from a standstill. More importantly, the additional torque now available is impressive. Typical cruising speeds for me require much less throttle. My old 'foot calibration' applied to the Volant CAI-equipped update consistently put me at greater speeds. Foot recal took a couple of days. Less throttle, of course, equals better mpg. By my readings (just driving sanely without hyper-miling at all), I got about a 1.7 mpg increase.Tubes and housing materials seemed quite thick; I would think they're very durable. The cover (which is also nicely done) enables easy access to even the 'straight' (not conical) PowerCore filter. Hoses are high-quality silicone, not the cheap rubber tubes supplied with some other units.Highly recommended. Next up: the snorkel.

Product was delivered fast. It installed even faster, although I am no mechanic. One issue I had was the horrible instructions. They listed what needed doing step by step, but without any descriptions or pictures at all, I was forced to use the knn website for the removal of my stock air intake system. For what I paid, instructions should be better. Last issue, this intake is bulky, blocky and down right ugly. If you want a sleek and stylish engine compartment, get something else. If appearance isn't important and a little google work is ok with you while installing, then this product is awesome. Much higher in quality and functionality that a knn. And far better than the stock or trd intakes.
