I've been wanting lights for my fence posts for many years, but I was waiting until we replaced the fence on the right side of my yard, so I could get enough of them in the right style. Well we replaced the fence, so now I can get my lights! We are waiting for a warm day here in Upstate, NY to install them, but I obviously wanted to check them out and make sure they worked. I was able to get a 16pc set and a 12 piece set so I could do not only the fence, but also the deck railing we're installing this summer and the railings on the front porch steps. I wanted them all to match if I could. These things are pretty simple to install. You have to twist them apart to get to the tab you pull out to complete the connection to the battery. After I did that, I removed the plastic off the solar panel and placed them outside on my grill and in direct sunlight, as much as possible with how cloudy it was. Even without clear blue skies, these things lit right up as soon as it was dark enough outside! They came with a cute little bookmark, which I think is a different way of marketing. Other companies just put a plain old rectangular or square card in the box. This company stepped it up a notch, making it multi-tasking by also making it a bookmark AND a ruler! That's what I call thinking outside the box! I like their style! 😜When installing on wooden posts, you have to put the provided screws in the bottom piece of the light and then you twist the rest of the light back on until it stops and you're done! I would suggest drilling some pilot holes first, before trying to get the screws in. I can't comment on the longevity of these lights, but if I encounter any unacceptable or unexpected issues, I will come back and edit this! All in all, they should get the job done, although I'm not sure for how long. Seeing as they are plastic and they are supposed to be in the sun, and those two things don't usually mix. Considering their price point, I think they're a pretty good value.

This solved two problems for me: replace a cap that was damaged, light front steps at night.Unboxing:I was happy to find these individually bubble-wrapped to keep them safe. It also comes with screws to secure the caps, so you shouldn't need additional hardware. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver, though. But imagine my surprise when one came on as I opened the box! I hadn't removed a battery-contact strip. It turns out the one it had in place had fallen out and was rattling around in the housing. Its battery appears to charge and discharge fine. There is something that calls itself a manual, but its a joke. It isn't informative, and the handy among us don't need it.Fence Cap Base / Assembly:The fence cap comes with the larger base pre-installed and the smaller base resting on top (above the solar panel). I didn't immediately understand that the other piece was an alternate base, and instead thought it needed to go under the pre-installed one.The two bases really give you FOUR installation options. A larger and smaller size and then each accommodates vinyl vs wood install (since 4x4 wood posts are not 4" by 4" because dimensional lumber is quirky), but I did not understand that each base has a part that snaps out depending on your use case. Fortunately, my husband immediately identified that - if you're handy, you probably would too - I think it would've taken me a bit longer but would've come around.Installation:To swap bases or remove the lighting housing to remove your battery contact slip, turn the upper piece counterclockwise relative to the base.Installing it on the post took less than 15 seconds on our 4x4 vinyl posts.Performance:These are a bright, but not blinding, warm toned light which I love. If you want cool or neutral light, though, you'll want another product. If you install them midday, don't judge them based on the first evening's performance. Wait a full day and see how they do.Overall, they come on reliably and makes my front steps a little safer. Our caps aren't obscured by trees or overhead cover, so they're able to charge pretty well. That said, the caps closer to the street do sometimes "notice" the streetlight a little ways away and turn off; they aren't only influenced by UV light.

These fence post caps were very easy to set up and install. Five out of the six worked right out of the box without me having to first charge the batteries. I only had to pull out the battery safety tabs that are installed for shipping -- which was very easy -- and then I checked that each one would light up if I covered the solar panel to simulate dark conditions. The one that didn't work, only need to have the battery charged and I was happy to see that it is very easy to take out the battery to charge it. Some solar lights require one to unscrew several tiny little screws to get to the battery but these post caps make it much easier -- there is just a plastic tab protecting the battery that one can easily lift off with a finger nail or pen tip.The caps fit very well on standard fence posts and are easy to fix in place. They have added a touch of style and elegance to my fence, and are especially attractive when the lights come on at night. The design and overall quality of this product seems very good, although it is too early to tell how durable they will prove to be and how well the lights will function over time.

They look great at night but I think the mounting could be better and the screws provided could be better. The screws are silver and kinda clash with the housing, would be nice if they provided white screws to match the housing or provided some kind of cap to cover the screws. The light at night time is nice and not too much. I'll have to see how they hold up to the high altitude summer and report back, the plastic does seem a little brittle but I could be wrong.
