It’s an inexpensive tool (looks cheap), but it helped me solve a dangerous electrical issue. It is good for showing the voltage on a single bare wire. I discovered high voltage on a neutral wire, caused by a drywall screw puncturing the romex wire.

Terrible instructions in the box. Either you're going to already need to know how to use these, or you're going to have to figure it out yourself. This does seem to work though, I tested it on a few outlets and it came out live. I am only really using this to test some of my outlets that seemed to be burned out.

when plugged into a 120v wall outlet , it only measured 44 volts.

I am not an electrician but I do want to know if circuits are open or closed and to protect myself and others if working on various electrical challenges. This just performs inconsistently for me and the instructions didn’t help me figure it out. For the most part it seems like if you have direct contact you can tell what’s going on.

No matter what I do hvac I can check voltage with out probes and with one hand and I can also check voltage on all receptacles easy pocket pen type easy to carry around convenience is key I love this thing I will be buying like 10 more of these to make sure I have an extra in case It breaks
