I have wanted to learn oriental calligraphy for some time, but I couldn't really rationalize spending the money on the inks and papers if I wasn't going to enjoy it, or even control the brush well enough to make it look nice.This is a game changer!You dip your brush in plane old water, and write on the paper. Where the water touches, the paper turns black. As the paper dries, the marks disappear! I'm Sure it's Magic of some sort :)Seriously though, this scroll is gorgeous. Beautiful brocade on the outside, so it looks nice when rolled up, and reusable for all the practice you could want before you splurge on inks and good brushes.It doesn't come with a brush, but those are also available on Amazon at a reasonable price, so you can try your hand at it before you invest the big bucks!

The cloth is nicely made with a lovely pattern. It's a good size and a nice thickness. It's great for practicing your brush strokes. It's really lovely and works well.

This calligraphy mat is so nice! I had read a bunch of reviews for other ones that didn’t seem promising and this one didn’t have a lot of reviews so I took a chance and am so glad we did!!The perfeeeect porch activity for my toddler! It dries quickly but not so quickly it’s disappointing.
