I needed a new router for my IOT devices within my house. So my use case may be a bit different than yours. Anyway, this router had all the features I needed including recent firmware updates and the ability to assign static IP addresses. I am only using the 2.4 GHz band so cannot comment on the 5 GHz but so far the 2.4 signal has been rock solid. Also I am able to get good signal strength to all parts of my two-story home with the router in the basement. One thing I did notice is that the signal is MUCH stronger in plain with the antennas. Imagine a flat disc extending from the tip of the 4 antennas and anything near the plain of this disc will get excellent signal. There does also appear to be a strong band of signal emanating in a small cone directly parallel to the antenna.I have only been using this router for a couple of weeks but have not experienced any drop outs or signal issues (once I got the antennas oriented to supply all of my devices).I will update as I use this router as far as longevity goes.

The WAVLINK AC1200 Dual Band Wifi Router is a good router for those needing basic internet connectivity. It’s an ideal solution to surf the net, check in on Facebook, or watch your streaming channels. WAVLINK has built quality products for the wifi world and has done so successfully for a long time. A speed demon this router is not, even its integrated Ethernet port is 10/100 only – a far cry from todays 1000 BASE-T of Gigabit Ethernet. It’s low sales price makes it an attractive product that supports the needs of approximately 85% of home Internet users and a large majority of business customers, too.If you are looking for that speed demon or something with robust beam forming technology in support of online gaming or maybe just in-house private networks with guaranteed performance, you’ll need to look to other WAVLINK products because this one isn’t meant for you.It delivers a robust set of features for a bargain price, making it an attractive and affordable choice for the entry level networking person we all once were. It’s also a great starting product for exploring the WAVLINK family of networking and communications products, positioning you with knowledge of overall product line performance and functionality that will help you as your networking needs continue to morph and grow.

I'm using this as a repeater and it works just fine. Extends the range of my in house system which already has a repeater, but there's tons of walls in between, so signals get weaker the farther they go. Overall it's doing good so far. I would rather wire it and put it in repeating mode, but that isn't feasible. Speeds are good, have not had issues with it. Setup is easy if you know what you are doing and just follow the instructions. It doesn't have a ton of ethernet ports like some of the higher end models, but if you're mainly using wifi, that shouldn't be an issue. If you need a lot of connectivity definitely suggest you get something with more ports. Overall though for my use it's a 5/5.

I recently purchased the WAVLINK AC1200 WiFi Router, and I couldn't be more impressed! Setting it up was a breeze – the web interface was simple and intuitive, and I had everything up and running in no time. The dual-band feature is fantastic; I can now easily switch between the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands depending on my needs. The 5 GHz band is perfect for smooth HD streaming and online gaming, while the 2.4 GHz band is great for everyday browsing. Plus, the coverage is exceptional! The router handles my 1,500 sq. ft. home effortlessly, and I haven’t experienced any connectivity issues, even in the farthest corners. The adjustable 5dBi antennas are a game-changer! With beamforming technology, I can connect multiple devices without any slowdowns. I’ve connected everything from phones and laptops to smart TVs, and the router has kept up without breaking a sweat. One of my favorite features is the versatility of the operating modes – I can easily switch between Router, AP, and Repeater modes based on my needs. Whether I need to extend my Wi-Fi range or create a new wireless network, it’s all covered. All in all, this router offers incredible performance and reliability for the price. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fast, stable, and easy-to-use WiFi solution. Five stars all the way!

Let me start with the positive bits-- this router is priced very well. If your budget is $30 and that is a rock solid number that you can't go beyond, then this router might work. But, if you can fork in just a little more, then you certainly should. This router wasn't a breeze to set up. It was a constant headache of connecting and disconnecting and dealing with the 192.168.10.1 page, it was tedious and time consuming and frustrating. The "instructions" were very little help in setting it up-- i think everyone knows where the power cord gets plugged in to. What we might not (read: definitely don't) know anything about is bridge mode versus router mode versus repeater, etc. There is no option to have a separate guest network, which pisses me off. I'd assume that most households need 3 networks--- a 2.4 network for IoT devices like light bulbs, led strips, cameras, smart locks, etc, then a 2nd network on the 5ghz band that is faster for just the members of the household to use which never gets shared with friends/family/guests, and lastly a guest network that has the option of so isolation so they can't gain access to your speakers, TVs, etc. Past all of the features that it is missing, there comes the issue of speed. There are 3 walls between me and my living room wifi router. Even so, on the faster 5ghz network, I have a transmission link speed of 1088 and a receive link speed of 1225. Compare that with the router that is 2 feet away from me with a transmit link speed of 526 and a receive link speed of 866. Those numbers are embarrassingly laughable. I take my internet security very seriously, which makes me VERY leery and apprehensive of made in China hardware that inherently feels super sus.
