I was so excited to try this out with my son. He loves moving fast but he is a big boy.The seat is perfect. Perfect build. Perfect placement. Perfect fit. That being said... once his big bum grows a little he might not fit in it anymore. The only thing I would change is the "harness" that holds him in. It's hard to tighten or loosen and the chest strap doesnt stay in place. I am going to make my own more sturdy straps because we plan to be on the bike a lot!

This product is amazing, kid can ride up front and see the world. My son just loves it. Also as far as the reviews go saying its hard to drive the bike after installing this seat, I'm not sure what you're talking about, you just need to adjust the seat to wherever works for you and then go with it. I'm not hindered at all with this seat, I've never owned a rear mounted one and after buying this one I can safely say I never will. Side note, I my son is 1 year old and perfectly capable of sitting upright so I never installed that headrest/hand hold thing you see in the pictures. I kinda placed in there after installing the seat on my bike and I was like no way am I putting this up here, works great without.

I'm an avid cyclist (road and mountain) and I fully stand behind this product. I've installed and used the bike seat on my old Schwinn beach cruiser as well as my beloved Surly Karate Monkey and it's been a great experience together thus far. Installation is pretty straight forward and I think that it took me about 15 minutes total. It's very easy but I'd like to stress that installation needs to be performed by somebody who knows what they are doing. Don't get me wrong, it's VERY simple to install but we are also dealing with the safety of a child, so it's best that the installation is in the hands of somebody familiar enough with assembly. The reason I say this is because I did read a review stating that the seat came undone while riding and I'm positive this is because it was not tightened enough. We need to lookout for our little ones and this is one item that needs to be installed correctly.A couple of thoughts:- Please make sure that you are riding the right size of bike to begin with. If you need a little extra room, you might find that getting wider handle bars or adjusting the stem will create for a much more comfortable & safe riding experience.- I think that it's best to ride a bike with wider tires so that you maintain a better balance. It's not impossible to use this on a road bike but if you do, just make sure you are already a decent rider so that you can safely steer. For me, it was time for a new mountain bike anyway, so I went with a Surly that has 3-inch wide tires, which helps distribute the added weight of my son, in my opinion.- IMPORTANT: I think it's best that the seat stay on the bike without removing it time and time again. My concern would be that the threads would eventually get stripped if you are constantly putting it on and off. Gotta stay safe!- The seat does force me to ride with my legs positioned slightly out but I'm also still clipped in to my SPD pedals, so it's not that big of deal. It may also depend on the size of bike you are riding and if you have a little extra room, you probably won't notice it much. This goes back to my first thought on riding the right size of bike...- It's always best to ride with a saddle bag so that you can fix a flat or address any minor technical issues along the way. If you do carry a few tools, it's probably not a bad idea to keep the allen wrench with you so that you can tighten or loosen the seat, as needed. Maybe keep some crackers in there as well for your hungry passenger! :)- Extra advice: always a good idea to wear bright colors when riding on the road and please-please-please be sure that your kid is wearing a helmet.Anyway, this is a solid product and I feel comfortable riding on dirt and up and down hills as well--nothing too crazy though. So it's time to get out there and enjoy some bike time with your little one! It's so much fun to watch my son on the bike and I'm so thankful for the opportunity to bond together. Our everyday rides are also helping dad lose the few extra pounds (okay, maybe more than a few!) gained during the pregnancy... :) Have fun!!

OK, here's my review after a few months of ownership:First off, my daughter LOVES it... and it's a thing she does with daddy that I think creates a bond that isn't replicated by towing her around in a trailer. She's constantly looking up at me smiling and feels safe because my arms are basically around her! We get a ton of a attention and everywhere we go people are super stoked on the WeeRide. I feel like I'm an ambassador for the company. Hey WeeRide! If you're reading this I've gladly sent a bunch of business your way! :-)Different bikes you mount this on will have different fits, due to there being so many different frame geometries and handlebar/seatpost/stem configurations. The ideal fit would be a long top tube and handlebars that come up high and arc toward the rider (think lowride beach cruiser). That way you can mount the seat far enough forward negating knee strikes. The handlebar arcing back toward you would prevent the rider leaning forward too far and pushing the child forward in the process. The first bike I mounted it on was an old steel road bike with a mtb style straight bar. On that one I felt like I was pretty stretched out forward. If I wanted to hold on to the bars, my daughter couldn't lean all the way back in the seat, as she was pushed forward by my chest a bit. Also on the straight bar of the frame, the bolt that connects the seat to the mounting bar dug into the top of the frame. I just put a piece of old rubber tube underneath it.Next, I mounted it on a full suspension mountain bike. This config is a bit better. It's got a bent top tube so no problems with the mounting bolt hitting the top. I installed a really short stem so I didn't have to lean as far forward, but the top tube is shorter, so my knees are bowed out even more. I'm never going to be able to really apply a lot of power to the pedals because of this, and I'd never want to be on it for longer than an hour. I think I'd be risking knee injury... it's just horrible ergonomics. For longer rides I'd switch to the trailer. However, the full suspension is the way to go. I've got 2" in front and back and I never worry about bumps and shocks hurting her spine—PLUSH! In fact, we are going mountain biking on some easy trails this weekend.Unfortunately, when we first got the WeeRide, the straps were too long even at the shortest adjustment. It states for 1+ years, but the straps were sliding off her shoulders. There is a little cross strap in the back joining the two shoulder straps—it's function is to prevent the straps from falling off the shoulders, but it would uselessly slip down to the seat rendering it useless. All this was surprising, as my daughter is in the 85 percentile for size. I contacted WeeRide about the issue and 2 days later received new straps that fit great in the mail. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! We must have gotten the old style... the newer straps are more adjustable, beefier and have more friction than the old ones. Now the cross strap doesn't fall down and everything fits fine! I still don't think they are up to the standards of some of the more expensive seats I've seen, but they are adequate.
