If your refrigerator's compressor is constantly running, won't come on, or runs without holding the correct temperature, replacing this part may alleviate the issue.Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the refrigerator and novice repair experience. You must unplug the refrigerator or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also turn off the refrigerator's water supply before you begin.Recommended Item: Refrigerator and Freezer Thermometer (item 8171720). This thermometer shows temps from -20 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Thermometer face has special markings to show where food is safe and where it is at risk of spoilage.

Good part, OEM quality. Purchased a temperature data logger for 10 bucks and it tracks dead on the set temperature with no issues. Resolved my refrigerator temperature control problem and is clocked perfectly to the control knob setting on the refrigerator dial unlike the cheap knockoff that I bought before this one. Very happy with the quality. Was more expensive than the knockoff but worth it. The knockoff went to the trash. Don’t buy the low quality item , buy this one instead.

OEM thermostat at good price. When troubleshooting refrigerator determined this may be the problem. Started trying to find local person to repair but could only leave messages but no call backs. Started watching YouTube videos on troubleshooting and replacing and decided to try. Started checking Amazon for replacement. Found several that ad said OEM but at higher price and found several that said compatible at much lower price. Came down to reviews. Came across this one that stated whirlpool OEM at about half the cost of others so decided to try. Arrived quickly in sealed whirlpool logo bag with whirlpool part number on bag. Once removed and compared the two the only difference was spade terminals were a little different but not a problem. Installed and worked. Saved the cost of repairman and refrigerator working properly again.

Product on time and did work. A note is this has side by side connection instead of top bottom connections which may cause confusion on power connections. It probably doesn't matter which way it is connected or I guessed correct.

Unit fit ok but had to disassemble and start over when I realized I had to utilize the tubing over the existing bad unit. Really, they couldn't supply one?No directions, utilized U Tube.Struggling adjusting temperature, seems to jump around when you try to do fine adjust. Still trying to find best place.Good news fridge is running. Question why it needed replacement, I'm 76 and never had any of our units burn out a thermostat.
