Got this as a gift. I guess if you want your whisky to taste like a random smoked barrel plus all the previous whiskys you’ve drunk, then this is a vessel that does that. But generally if I’m enjoying whiskey, I want to enjoy what makes that specific whiskey, interesting and unique. This ‘grail’ does not emphasize or improve the flavor of an already good whiskey, for that you would want a tumbler or snifter made of a non-interactive material like glass. If anything, this will distract from the flavors and aromas of your alcohol, and build up with residue of the whiskeys you drink over time. If you enjoy drinking cheap blends this is probably fine but if that’s the case do you need a $50 cup to elevate them?To top it off, the product is poor quality. The wood developed water stains from the very first time I rinsed it, before even having drink.The hexagon shape is cool but I wonder how it sticks together and made water tight. Are those glues going to hold up to a prolonged alcohol soak?I would be less critical if it wasn’t so expensive. I can’t help but suspect this is a cash grab targeting grooms looking for a trendy bachelor party gift. Buyer beware!
