While looking for goggles one day to wear while cutting the lawn, I could have sworn I saw some that said they were for cutting onions. Weird, I thought but okay I wonder if they really work. And that was that. Then one day, I watched my husband cry like a baby while he was cutting onions. He is the chef in the household. I remembered seeing some goggles or glasses were advertised as keeping the tears away when cutting onions so I got online at Amazon and searched for those glasses. I decided on this pair "Tears Free Onion Glasses Anti-tear Free Cutting Chopping Eye Protect Cooking BBQ Kitchen Gadget Goggle (red)" and tried them myself one time when I was about to cut onions. So here's how they worked, my nose felt like it was burning and my eyes were almost a little watery but not one tear rolled down! Wow, I was impressed. It's not like you don't even notice you are cutting onions. You will notice, but you won't be crying so hard that tears are dripping into the onions and you can't see what you're doing! Not one tear dropped, I was able to see what I was doing working at a normal (slow) pace. The next time my husband wanted to cut onions, I said, oh yeah... I bought some glasses for you and they are right here, try them, I did and they really work!" He tried them and they worked for him, too!

Purchased for a Father’s Day gag gift - turned out to be the best gift of the day! My husband will not grill without them & highly recommends them. Who knew!?!

I have been using these goggles at work because the traditional goggles did not make me feel safe when examining patients. Yes, they can fog up at times but I bought an anti-fog spray that helped reduce the fogging.

Doesn’t really work that well. It does block some of the onion effects but quickly fogs up. Definitely doesn't close around your eyes tightly like actual goggles do which is what is necessary for this product to work well.

Onion goggles should keep the noxious vapors emitted from the onions or shallots away from the eyes, right? Well, that’s what I think, anyway. And these didn’t. Period. They looked nice, fit well, were lightweight, but the foam lining around the eyes sat several mm from my skin, didn’t protect. I wondered if it was enough to not have a frontal assault from the fumes, but it turns out that it really is not. Find the kind that seal around the eyes; I’m probably going with chemistry goggles or something, since I doubt anything that fits just over the ears is going to seal around the eyes that well.

They really work, put them on before cutting and don’t move them or adjust them once you startcutting. So make sure they are comfortable beforeyou start, moving them on your face will let theonion vapors get to your eyes.
