This wooden loom is a bit of a mixed bag. The frame itself is quite solid and pretty, but then it comes with plastic pegs I found difficult to install. Also be aware it’s a 17x17 loom when many patterns are based off more name brand looms that are 18x18, 19x19, or the more pro looms at 27x27, etc. The pegs that came for me were 16 of red, yellow, blue & green, then 12 of orange. More than enough pegs (only 68 needed), but weird to have one be shorter than the others. There were 17 each of the band colors, making a 2 color potholder just possible, but many patterns impossible. This is fine for me as I plan on buying other loops and/or using yarn in my stash. The loops it comes with are really saturated and very stretchy, which is nice.My biggest complaint for this loom it doesn’t come with a weaving tool. It comes with a nice crochet hook, which is great for binding off, but inadequate for comfortable weaving. A dowl or knitting needle of sufficient size can be used to make a shed, which helps, but still isn’t the long hook I’d except in a set like this. I have some other weaving tools from a different sort of loom I’ll probably co-opt for future projects. For this one I mostly just used my hands.Everything fits inside the loom when you’re done, and while the whole thing is a bit clunky, it fits on my craft cart fine.

Making potholders is a great, calming craft for all ages. This potholder set includes everything you need to make six potholders. It works well, and I enjoyed making these, but potential buyers need to know that even though the loom is large, the resulting potholders will be tiny. The loops are small enough that they look like ponytails, and even though they have a huge amount of stretch, the final product will be about 4.5" square. Potholders always shrink down when you take them off the loom, but that is especially dramatic here. Also, even though this wooden loom is really nice and sturdy, I don't know if I would use it again, since it isn't compatible with the other potholder loops that I normally use. This loom is much larger than the standard 7" x 7" size, so it will only work with loops that are particularly stretchy. And the loom size doesn't really gain you anything, since the potholders are so small. In addition to this, the loom has only 17 pegs, in comparison to an 18 peg loom, which is the standard size. That matters when you're following more complex patterns, like the ones I used for some of my potholders. I picked patterns that could easily adapt to the smaller size. The crochet hook is extremely nice, though! It has a rubberized grip that is much more comfortable to use than a hard plastic or metal crochet hook.I enjoyed using this kit, but I would only recommend it for someone who wants to make six coaster-sized potholders and be done. If someone wants to make larger potholders or plans to buy replacement loops after they've used this kit, then they are much better off getting a kit with a standard-sized loom and larger loops. Many of these nicer kits are available at comparable price points. I would recommend the brand Friendly Loom as a good starting point.

Both of my daughters love pot holder looms. My younger daughter has played with a plastic loom that was gifted to her, and my older daughter has made pot holders with it.This loom is really sturdy, made from bamboo. It comes with the rope loops, a hook, the loom pegs, and separate plastic storage boxes for the pegs and loops. I wish it had a storage box that holds everything. It says it comes with a storage box, but it all comes in a cardboard box (so I'm not sure if it's referring to that or the two smaller boxes that hold the loops and pegs). I also think the instructions could be nicer; They are just a small pamphlet. You don't have to make potholders with this set. My younger daughter likes to just hook the loops on and change them around. This is a good craft kit or a toy to practice fine motor skills. You can buy more loops if they are used to make potholders. The quality of this loom is really good, a lot nicer than the plastic one we have.I look at reviews a lot while shopping. I hope this review helps!

I was looking for a project that takes about two hours...I mentor refugee children at a local school and as they learn to speak English I usually have a project for us to work on. This one is just right if they are at least 7 or so, as it requires some small motor skills. I remember doing these back when "home ec" was a subject at school and women learned potholders and how to make aprons... like that was what mattered for a girl's future. Thank goodness it is just a fun project now!

This took me back to when I was a kid and this is one of the crafts we did once to keep us busy and out of trouble. This kit contains everything you need. The base is a pretty substantial wood base that you have to put the pegs into. That was probably the toughest part of this project. I decided they don't all have to be seated to the very bottom if they are solid. Some went in easy, others I couldn't push all the way down and even. The instructions are pretty clear as long as you are careful in following them. I missed the way to start doing the edging and did one side before I realized that wasn't going to work and went back and looked closer. I wasn't pulling the under strand up through the upper strand. The only shortcoming in the instructions is they didn't cover how to tie off the last strand but what I did seemed to work fine. Was a fun project. Price is a bit high but this one worked better than the little plastic ones in that I didn't have any issues with the strands accidentally coming off the peg with this kit, whereas the plastic ones you have to be pretty careful with. Glad I picked this up. I've got one new potholder already and will share this with other family members. Better than playing a game on one's phone!
