Hardwood Marking Gauge
A high quality gauge used to mark parallel lines either with or across the grain.
Mortise gauge made from the finest hardwood, and enhanced with brass facing plates and fittings.
A nylon friction pad is fitted under the knurled brass thumbscrew to reduce wear to the stem and to ensure secure, smooth and accurate setting of the gauge.

Staff of marker has a single fixed pin on one side and a pair of pins, one fixed, one adjustable through a range of 1/4 inch to several inches away from fixed pin. Adjustment of that moving pin is by means of a screw thread allowing excellent precision, unlike other units where you have to hold three things steady while you tighten the clamp or wedge. This unit tightens by a finger screw so you get just the tension you want. Base of marker has two brass inlaid strips, preventing wear on the working face. Recommend.

This is a very well made marking gauge. All the components fit and function properly. And the pins are very sharp. The only thing I did was countersink the screw a little lower to get the screw head just below the surface. Fantastic bargin for a fantastic tool.

Overall not to bad but the middle piece is not square to the marking portion of the gauge. I think that it should at least be square. It does work and as long as you measure carefully it works well. The fir and finish is good for this price point.

The product looks great but the clearances aren’t tight enough to provide 90 degrees between the two pieces. This makes it more challenging to measure and set the distance for marking. Tightening the locking screw also moves your measurement but a couple mm. Pins aren’t set to the same depth either.

The production quality is good, no rough edges or anything alike, the needles are sharp, all moving parts go smooth without issues. Having this thing it's hard to see why you would spend any more money on a classical marking gauge.

This is identical to the very expensive name brands and performs equally. No reason to spend the extra money for those.

Trusquin utilisé, évidemment, en menuiserie pour tracer tenons et mortaises. Précisons que je suis seulement un bricoleur. L'outil s'avère très facile d'utilisation, précis, très bien fini, donnant une impression de solidité et de durabilité. Les matériaux sont d'excellente qualité, les différentes pièces parfaitement ajustées sans jeu, les pointes pour tracer les mortaises, bien affûtées et correctement alignées. De plus, l'outil est beau. Je suis très satisfait de mon achat qui vaut largement le surcoût par rapport à des trusquins meilleur marché.

This product is a good quality and well manufactured mortice gauge. Unfortunately, the item that I received had the adjustable mortice gauge pin jammed into the gauge headstock and the pin had been bent, so I am in the process of returning the item to Amazon.
