I'm learning to turn wood and the woodworker who's teaching me how to use a lathe told me that these are a good set to learn with. They came sharp and the handles are ergonomic. When I used these compared to his tools, there was more vibration in my hands with these, but his cost as much for each one as this entire set.

The tools in this set come very sharp and cut well. The end of each chisel has its end hardened to about 1 inch from the tip. The remainder is softer steel that can be cut with a kitchen knife or file. This is good as it gives a hard cutting edge and ductility to the rest of the steel. The tangs of the chisels extend about 1.5 inches into the wooden handles.These may not be the best chisels, but will serve my purposes of occasional lathe work great.
