Repaired my leaking "frost free" woodfords. Easy DIY, quality parts. Do not be intimidated.I have newer house. I confirmed my pex drains toward inside. However, I had rim joists loaded with 12" of spray foam. I suspect they do a great job of freezing hydrants also since little ambient heat is being conducted via pex (plastic) and there is 12" of foam material before hose bib. I will probably be doing these again. Not Woodford's fault. I'm not removing insulation

Had one frost faucet really leak so need repaired. Because we are the original owners we knew it was 20+ years old. Told my wife we might as well repair the other one because it dribbles when used. They were the old Teflon packing. Easy to do. if you never done one Woodford has a good how to video on U Tube.

This kit is amazing, really good quality. It was from the original manufacturer and was easy to repair my Woodford Model 17 spigot. I did also have to replace the valve stem which you have to buy separately. All in all being able to repair the spigot saved me from having to call out a plumber.

This set fixed a squirting garden faucet. The knob fits directly on a brass shaft. But knob contains aluminum which makes it chemically react and fuse together over time and makes it impossible to remove the knob without breaking the brass shaft. I used plumber's grease and plastic foil under the knob to limit the possibility of chemical reaction between the two elements.Plastic and rubber parts have a limited life span of a few years. And then... you need to keep replacing them.

Installed these rebuild kits today on two Woodford Model 17 freeze proof hydrants. It was difficult to scrape out the existing cloth-like packing material. I used a small screwdriver to remove it, and then the stem came out easily. Be sure to leave the cap off off the anti siphon valve until you have checked for leaks. Both faucets leaked excessively through the clear anti siphon nut, so I called Woodford customer service. The lady was very knowledgeable and had me remove the clear plastic anti siphon nuts and diagrams and then flush water to remove any debris. I did that on both faucets and used a wrench to tighten the plastic nut down securely. As noted by another reviewer, the diaphragm kept slipping down off of the plastic nut so I used silicone grease to keep the two parts together during reassembly. The new handles have a metal insert that makes them much sturdier that the old ones. The two faucets look like new and had no leaks.

I have a finished basement, and both of my hose bids have leaked for YEARS, I didn't want to tear my ceiling up to replace it. Then I found this. 20 minutes later, both Hose bibs rebuilt on the inside, and work like new. Fast easy, wish I would have found this a long time ago.

I installed my kit the other day without a problem. The house I bought 5 years ago was built 7 years prior, and had never been occupied except on vacations. Even though it couldn't have been used much, the older type flat rubber washer seemed to be fairly hard. In 5 years I didn't use this outside faucet because you couldn't shut it off without it leaking. The new rubber washer seat was like the tapered washer seat, used for years in regular faucets. It works fine, but you have to be careful and not get in a habit of over tightening when turning water off. This will shorten life of the rubber washer!

My Woodford outdoor hydrant has been working well for 16 years. I bought this kit as insurance should I need to replace something. When I called Woodford to make sure I was ordering the right parts, they explained that the MH designation on the kit name stands for metal handle. That's what I ordered but the handle that came was plastic. It looks just like the tan one in the photo of the kit.So I guess I got what I ordered but it's not what they claim. My plastic handle continues to work after 16 years so it's pretty well made. Still, metal would give better peace of mind.
