Last summer I decided to replace a stretch of fencing between my and my neighbor's back yard. When we bought this house, there was an addition that absolutely needed a wood burner to keep it comfy during the winter months. Next to the old fence, the previous owner had constructed a firewood hutch of treated lumber and sheet metal roofing. It was "L" shaped and attached to the fence as well as the house. Silly me, I went to get a permit for the new fence because there was demo involved and the city made me remove the hutch as a "unapproved" structure, despite the fact that is had been there for twenty years. So, I removed the roof and got my reciprocating saw and ripped it all out. This was June. I moved the firewood to a temporary location, until after the new fence was installed. What to do now? How to protect my precious firewood which was essential to keeping the addition warm? Enter The Woodhaven. I purchased the 10' model which fit my firewood needs for one season. This item is rugged, powder-coated steel frame, my model 10' long and about 4' tall, enough to hold a little over half a cord give or take. If you need a cord, get the 16' model. It holds your firewood a nice 4 inches off the ground and has a versatile, rugged waterproof canvas cover that slides over the four end posts with heavy-duty elastic bands to hold it in place. The cover has heavy-duty Velcro seals in the front for easy lifting when you pull your wood from the pile and it has grommets so you can tie the cover down. Didn't think I would need those in a relatively sheltered area but the wind did get in there and lift the front part of the cover. This is a well-made product and the material quality is very good. Construction somewhat easy. Take your time putting it together.I was able to use a table and a couple of posts to balance the frame pieces while I bolted them together. It might be better if you get a helper. The steel spans are a little heavy and unwieldy, which is what makes it so strong, so a little help once you reach that point of construction is always a good thing. This rack is rock solid and I have been burning nice, dry wood from it all winter long. Smart purchase. So, when the city Google Earths my house again, they will see my new Woodhaven rack next to the house and those guys will not be invited in for hot chocolate in front of a warm fire.

This is a great firewood rack and I’m so happy that I splurged for a nice one! It looks so much better than what we previously had, it’s sturdy and attractive. I was proud of myself for putting it together without my husbands help, but would say having a ratchet makes assembly much easier! He gave me one halfway through and I got it together much quicker than that first half. As far as the weight since some reviewers complained about that- just carry it piece my piece to where you assemble it and then shimmy it into the right spot.

Edit: April 2021 - both of the woodhaven racks mentioned in this review are still solid as a rock and look brand new. No rust, no structural weaknesses, just solid and sturdy wood storage. They’ve performed so well I just bought two more!Original review: This is a beast of a wood rack. Easy enough to assemble and very sturdy. The sturdiness of this wood rack comes from the close tolerances of the holes for the bolts that you use to build it, in addition to the gauge of the metal bars themselves. If the holes were not drilled with close tolerances, all of the "slop" in the joints would transfer to the rest of the rack. The rack will still flex around some, especially when empty, but if you support it with a proper base where it meets the ground, it is VERY solid once loaded. The cover is a nice ballistic nylon - like a fabric suitcase. I admit my cover is still folded up, as I have never used it - I live in FL and only use my firepit on cool, dry nights. But I used to live in the mid-atlantic and midwest, so I know the challenges of a woodpile covered with snow or wet from rain, and the cover would be invaluable in those conditions.I was so impressed with this rack that I ordered another, more decorative rack (The Courtyard style) direct from the manufacturer because that style wasn't available on Amazon. Both racks are of the same exceptional, American made quality.

Great instructions. Went together easily. Seems sturdy. Did not contain as much split wood as expected. Gave a 4 star rating as I have not used the cover as yet. Might have given it more if I had done so.Chuck
