In order to install the backrest, the taillights needed to be removed. Other parts needed to be removed are the inner seat tub, the seat latch, the grab bars, and most of the side panels on both sides.. The base of the backrest screws into the back of the plate that holds the latch. This means that the plastic formed sheet which fits in there also needs to be removed. It is not at all obvious where the base is to be installed. There is small plastic clip that holds the taillight cable, which interfered and needed to be clipped off, but that is not really a problem. It is a very snug fit.inside the area, and patience is required. Allow 4 hours pr more to disassemble, install, and reassemble. The final result is worth it, but the pad still needs securing to the frame with something like urethane glue so it doesn’t flop around.

It is not obvious how to install like the description states. The seller did provide an install video after requested. You need to remove all panel covers on the sides and rear lights to access where to install the mounting bracket. You must make sure you tighten mounting becket screws to ensure the seat is snug. I do like, unlike some seats this one is more securely mounted so I feel safer about the seat not coming off. You can remove the seat with only removing 3 screws. So once it’s installed it’s not difficult to remove. It took me about two hours from start to finish to install.
