This works great for hiking and hunting. I use it on my acreage just to pull out to see wildlife up close. They keep your hands free which I appreciate and yet readily available. If you like outdoors, I'd consider this a must.

I was first drawn to this after owning a chest rig and seeing the similarites with added depth and side pockets. I was planning to use this to hold my camera in the main compartment, and accessores in the pouches. It wasn't until I put it to use that I realized it wasn't going to work for me.One of the major problems with this pouch is the way the lid opens. When you are wearing the harness, you are unable to view the contents. I would have much preferred it opened from the chest out like many other designs do. This may not be an issue if you plan on using it with the right sized binoculars though. That said, if your binoculars aren't tall enough then the bungee will not hold. At least on my copy anyway, the lid folds in on itself rather than maintaining a vertical alignment. If you overstuff it, then you can reshape it's form? I dunno, but these are two main drawbacks that render this unusable for me.The rest of the pouch is okay, and the pockets and zippers all work fine. The harness is good as well, so it really is just the main compartment that they need to fix. Until they do that, I can't recommend this.

We live and hunt in the forests of northern Minnesota. We have a couple chest harnesses for our binos and they help keep them from swinging around loosely when hiking but if there is any precipitation (snow/rain) they lenses get dirty and it can be frustrating when you lift them up to view an animal. This pouch provides good protection, keeps them dry and dirt free, and helps keep them from fogging up. There are quite a few additional little pockets and slots for tucking additional items in. There are bullet holders, zipper pouches, and loops in addition to the main compartment. The bino pocket has a soft lining that will keep the lenses safe from scratches. The harness is a little difficult to get on but no more so than the chest straps that we are currently using. Overall, I’m pleased with the product and I would definitely consider this a good gift for someone who uses binoculars. Wether it’s for hunting, scouting or just for an avid birdwatcher.

I've used the Alaska Guide Creations bino packs for close to 20 years. In that time I have come to rely on them to keep my binoculars safe and easy to use. At first glance, this pack looks to be an imitation of AGC bino packs but closer examination brings out the differences. The cordura nylon used in the construction of this binocular pack is very lightweight. It feels thin and I suspect it would easily rip if you were busting through thick brush or took a tumble on jagged rocks. The straps are not very thick either and look like they would wear out in short order. Same for the vented fabric panel that makes up the shoulder straps and back panel. I would be concerned that a pack strap, rubbing on the binoculars harness shoulder strap, would abrade the material and weaken it. There is very little padding in the binoculars compartment and none in the front or side pouches so all you have between them and the rough and tumble outside world is thin cordura material. Finally, the American flag patch on the back panel is sewn on UPSIDE DOWN.Admittedly, these are less than half the cost of AGC packs but the quality is consistent with the price. There is no way I'm trusting my $2400 Swarovski binoculars to this pack in the backcountry. For occasional use birding around town with less expensive glass these will work fine but I wouldn't use them for anything beyond that.

If you're often in the woods, you'll know that having your binoculars swinging around your neck is an accident waiting to happen. A binocular harness is a great idea, equal parts protection and support. But is that all? Not with this harness! It will hold your binoculars, sure. But it'll also hold more than that. There's a pocket on the front for a rangefinder, pockets on the side for lens caps, handkerchiefs or other small items, and a large mesh pocket in back. All are closed with zippers and each pocket is placed to where you can get at it with either hand. The rangefinder pocket has elastic loops sewn in for batteries, lens pens, ect. The main binocular pocket is of the "universal" style, being able to accommodate both porro and roof prism models with ease. (Make sure you measure your binoculars before ordering, the size of the pocket is helpfully listed in the description) . There is some light padding on the main compartment, and the lid secures with a bungee strap. Speaking of straps, the harness is attached with 4 quick release buckles. The straps on the harness are pretty wide, and support the weight of the binoculars pretty well. By now you're thinking this is a "perfect" set up, right? Well, not quite. There's a few things that you need to be aware of before ordering. First, there is no provision for attaching binoculars to this harness, so if you want to keep your valuable swarvioskis from breaking you'll need to rig up some kind of retention system. This is not a deal breaker, but it is a glaring omission. (I just used some 550 cord, and a couple quick release buckles I had laying around- problem solved!)Second, the shoulder straps could use a bit more padding. They're thin and lightweight (always appreciated), but could be uncomfortable if your binos are particularly heavy, or you're wearing them all day. Third, and this is a minor point, but the American flag sewn in the shoulder straps is upside-down. Say what you will about world events, but I'm pretty sure that wearing a symbol of grave distress (that's what flying ANY country's flag means) is not going to be considered a selling point. All that said, I'm glad I ordered it. I'm looking forward to seeing how long it lasts.
